THE MATCH-UP: East Stroudsburg University looks to extend its winning streak against Kutztown to 10 games, but enters the weekend in the midst of its first four-game losing streak since 2000. The Golden Bears are 5-0 for the first time in school history and are tied for first place in the PSAC East with Bloomsburg and C.W. Post through the first two conference games.

HOMECOMING WEEKEND: The Warriors are 23-13 in Homecoming games under head coach Denny Douds, but have lost their last three since a 48-7 win over Cheyney in 2006. Kutztown was the Homecoming opponent in 2005 when the Warriors posted a 42-14 win.

THE SERIES: ESU's 27-20 (OT) win last season at Kutztown was its ninth straight in the series. The Warriors are 43-14-1 all-time against the Golden Bears, whose last victory was a 17-16 win at ESU in 2000. ESU has a pair of one-point wins in the last nine years - 24-23 in 2007 and 34-33 in 2003 - and has scored at least 24 points in every game during the current 9-0 stretch.

DEMANDING SCHEDULE: The Warriors' four-game losing streak - just the seventh in 37 seasons under head coach Denny Douds - has come against the top two teams in both divisions of the PSAC preseason polls. California was the preseason pick in the PSAC West, followed by IUP, while West Chester and Bloomsburg were picked first and second in the PSAC East.

LAST TIME OUT: Franklyn Quiteh, the leading rusher in Division II, carried 39 times for 246 yards to lead Bloomsburg to a 26-13 win over ESU last Saturday. R-Sr. QB Matt Marshall was 20-for-35 for 209 yards, a TD and an interception for ESU. R-Sr. OLB Matt Freed had the top day for the ESU defense with 17 tackles, the second-most in a game in his career. Freed also registered his first sack of the season.

THE HEAD COACHES: Denny Douds (Slippery Rock '63) holds the PSAC record for career wins with a 227-150-3 record in his 37th season as head football coach at ESU. He is in his 45th season at ESU overall and is one of five active coaches in Division II, and one of just 18 coaches in all of college football, with at least 200 career victories. Raymond Monica (North Alabama '90) has a 22-26 record in his fifth season at Kutztown. Monica came to KU after serving as defensive coordinator at Temple for eight seasons. He was at North Alabama for nine seasons prior to that, helping his alma mater to three straight NCAA Division II championships from 1993-95.

• ESU's four straight losses have come against opponents with a combined record of 14-6, which includes West Chester's season-opening loss at Division I FCS Delaware

Freed, a History major, is the 5th Academic All-American in ESU football history and the 3rd Warrior to be selected to the 1st team. He was also an All-District selection as a sophomore in 2008. Sarginger, a Mathematics and Secondary Education major, was voted to the team in his first year of eligibility.

THE MARSHALL PLAN: R-Sr. QB Matt Marshall will make his 20th career start this weekend and his 19th straight. The Warriors are 11-8 in his previous 19 starts. ESU was 8-4 and made the NCAA Playoffs with Marshall at the helm in 2009, and he won his first two career starts in 2008, beating Cheyney in week 5 and Slippery Rock in the final game of the season.

Marshall has thrown a TD pass in 20 consecutive games going back to week 10 at Millersville in 2008. He had a streak of 2+ TD passes in 9 consecutive games end last week at Bloomsburg. He has 16 career multi-touchdown games.

THE WIDE RECEIVERS: A total of 13 players have caught passes for the Warriors this season, including 6 wide receivers. Fr. TB Dusty Reed has also played almost exclusively as a wide receiver in his first year at ESU.

ESU returned its top four receivers from last season in R-Sr. Jeff Giglio, R-Sr. Ed Kiser, R-So. Jordan Hallman and So. Bryan Ogden. The quartet had 2,134 yards and 17 TDs last season, accounting for almost 2/3 of the Warriors' 3,246 yards through the air. Giglio and Kiser can both reach 2,000 career receiving yards this season. Last year, Sam Shuman became the 8th Warrior with 2,000 receiving yards, finishing with 2,043 yards.

ESU led the PSAC in passing efficiency last season (154.6), ranked 2nd in total offense (405.3 ypg) and 3rd in passing offense (270.5 ypg). The Warriors have led the PSAC in passing yards per game in 6 of the last 8 years (2002-06, 2008).

Deery and Williams both contributed as true freshmen last season as starting tailback Zach Krise (128.0 ypg through first 3 games) was forced out of the lineup due to injury. The Warriors averaged 134.8 yards per game on the ground last year, their most since 2005. They ran the ball on 55.2 percent of their offensive plays and averaged 37.1 rushing attempts per game, both the most since 2001.

THE TIGHT ENDS: R-Sr. Matt Brown, R-Fr. Lukas Mason and true freshmen Nick Hagemann and Steven Jones give the Warriors four tight ends on the roster. Brown, a 6th-year senior, redshirted in 2005 and received a medical redshirt in 2008. He has played in 32 games with 6 starts and has 12 catches for 95 yards in his career at ESU after making his first catch of the year for 22 yards at Cal.

EILER-MARTIN STADIUM
• Eiler-Martin Stadium has been the home of the Warriors since 1938
• John R. Eiler was an outstanding athlete at the school in the early 1930s and later athletic director and a championship soccer coach
• Gene Martin was the Warriors' head football coach from 1942-57 and the school's long-time Dean of Men

ESU IN THE NCAA PLAYOFFS
• ESU played in the NCAA Division II Playoffs for the fourth time in school history last season, falling to Edinboro, 31-16, in the first round

PSAC PRESEASON POLL
• ESU was picked to finish fifth in the 2010 PSAC East Coaches Poll
• The Warriors received one first place vote and were selected behind West Chester, Bloomsburg, C.W. Post and defending PSAC champion Shippensburg
• A total of 12 points separated the top five schools in the poll. Kutztown was sixth, followed by Millersville and Cheyney.
• California, the defending division champion and three-time NCAA semifinalist, was the preseason favorite in the PSAC West, followed by IUP and Clarion
• Edinboro and Gannon were tied for fifth, followed by Slippery Rock, Mercyhurst and Lock Haven
• The 2010 season will mark the third year of the PSAC State Game, which was held annually from 1960-1987 and returned in 2008

WARRIORS ON RADIO
• WVPO 840 AM is in its 48th season broadcasting ESU football and will once again carry all 11 games in 2010
• Chuck Seese, the 2009 PSAC Heaslip Media Award winner, is in his 22nd season as the voice of the Warriors
• He is joined in the booth by Bob Brittain, who is in his 10th year providing the color commentary

WARRIORS ON TV
• Blue Ridge TV-13 will broadcast ESU football for the 23rd year this season, with all five home games airing live across the region
• Veteran play-by-play man Chris Doty is joined by color commentator Jim Riley and sideline reporter Mike Remish
• ESU will also have three games broadcast through a partnership with PA SPORTSfever, which has broadcast seven games over the past three seasons
• Games vs. West Chester (Sept. 25), vs. Kutztown (Oct. 9) and at Edinboro (Nov. 13) will be broadcast live on all Blue Ridge stations in eastern PA and tape-delay on WTVE (Philadelphia) and Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh

AND WE GO TO...OVERTIME
• ESU is 4-6 all-time in overtime contests and has won its last two games in OT, 27-20 at Kutztown in 2009 and 44-41 vs. Shippensburg in 2008
• The win vs. Shippensburg gave head coach Denny Douds the PSAC record with his 213th career victory

PSAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
• ESU has won a share of nine PSAC titles under head coach Denny Douds, and 12 in school history
• The most recent championships came in 1991, 2002 and 2003, when the Warriors won the PSAC East championship
