EAST STROUDSBURG – Six individuals and one team will comprise the 2010 induction class of the East Stroudsburg University Athletic Hall of Fame as part of Homecoming weekend festivities on Saturday, October 9.
The class includes women's basketball player Nancy Weaver '74, field hockey and lacrosse athlete Denise Groeber Ferretti '93, women's soccer player Terri Meierhofer '98, men's basketball player Earle Greer '84, football and baseball player Tim Bishop '86 and men's soccer player Mike Feniger '99. The 1994-95 PSAC champion women's basketball team rounds out the class as the eighth team inducted into the Hall of Fame.
The Athletic Hall of Fame Brunch will be held in the Keystone Room with registration at 9 a.m., followed by the brunch at 9:30 a.m. and the induction ceremony. Tickets are $30 and are available by contacting the ESU Athletic Department at (570) 422-3578, or by e-mail at

The Hall of Fame class features the all-time leading goal scorers in the history of the ESU men's and women's soccer programs in Meierhofer and Feniger, who both played for the Warriors under head coach
Jerry Sheska. Meierhofer played for Sheska for one season on the 1994 PSAC championship team, which was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 2008, while Feniger was a member of three PSAC championship squads.
Meierhofer will be the first women's soccer player inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame as the only All-American from a program that began in 1992. She set school records with 74 career goals and 178 points and was a member of PSAC championship teams in 1994 and 1997. She also ranks second at ESU with 30 career assists and concluded her career as a four-time selection to the All-PSAC first team.
Meierhofer was the PSAC Player of the Year, an NSCAA All-America second team selection and ESU's co-Female Athlete of the Year as a senior when she scored a school record 26 goals on the conference championship team. She was also the PSAC Freshman of the Year on the Warriors' 1994 championship club. Meierhofer is a seventh grade mathematics teacher at Black River Middle School in Chester, N.J. and is the assistant soccer coach at West Morris Central High School, along with a basketball coach at Black River Middle School. She continues to play competitively in the Garden State Soccer League.
Feniger was a three-time NSCAA All-American and will be just the second men's soccer player inducted to the Hall of Fame who finished his playing career in the last 35 years. He set and still holds PSAC records with 76 career goals and 189 points and also owns the school record with 37 assists. A four-time All-PSAC selection, Feniger led the Warriors to three straight PSAC championships from 1993-95 and was the Senior Male Athlete of the Year in 1997.
Feniger is the only men's soccer player in school history to have his jersey retired and was the PSAC Player of the Year in 1994 and 1995. He scored 24 goals as a junior, the school record at the time, had 19 goals in both his sophomore and senior seasons after scoring 12 goals as a freshman. Feniger played professionally for seven seasons, including stints with the Hershey Wildcats and Harrisburg Heat. He is the owner of Fen's Pool Cleaning and Repair Service in West Palm Beach, Fla., where he resides with his wife, Camille.
Nancy Weaver '74 was a starter and key player on basketball teams which compiled a 46-17 record from 1971-74. She played on three teams that competed in the AIAW National Championships and reached the quarterfinals in 1971 and 1972 while competing against schools in all divisions of college basketball. She will join former teammates Lynn Breedy '71, Marian Braine Ressler '73 and Polly Case Glowatz '74 as members of the Athletic Hall of Fame.
Weaver received Master's degrees from East Stroudsburg and Marywood University following her undergraduate career, and ultimately earned her Ph.D. in Human Development from Marywood in 2005. She has served the students of East Stroudsburg since 1976 as a Resident Director and Assistant Dean of Students, and currently is the Assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs.
Denise Groeber Ferretti '93 was the first female student-athlete to be named to All-America teams in two sports under head coach
Sandy Miller. She was a first team All-American in field hockey and lacrosse and captain of both teams as a senior, was also named to the All-PSAC team in lacrosse, and was a member of the Warriors' 1990 NCAA Tournament field hockey team.
Ferretti resides in Souderton with her husband, Eric, and their two sons, Luca (age 3) and Nico (age 2). She has been a first grade teacher at Lower Gwynedd Elementary School in the Wissahickon School District for 13 years and also coached field hockey and lacrosse at Upper Dublin High School. She played lacrosse in a women's league for five years and continues to play in a field hockey league as a member of the same team for the past 17 years.
Earle Greer '84 was a Kodak All-America selection and the ECAC Player of the Year as a senior, when he averaged 23 points and 11.6 rebounds per game. His 645 points that season were the most in school history at the time and his 249 field goals remain the school record. He was named to the All-PSAC East first team in 1983 and 1984 and currently ranks third in school history with 1,556 points and fourth with 752 rebounds.
Greer resides in Lansdowne with his wife, Reanie, his son Earle, Jr. (age 7), and two daughters, Logyn (3) and Iyana (19), who attends Shippensburg University. He worked in sales and management for The Philadelphia Coca-Cola Bottling Company for 20 years until his retirement in 2004, and currently owns and operates a real estate development company in Philadelphia and the surrounding area.
Tim Bishop '86 was the ESU Senior Male Athlete of the Year after finishing his career as a two-sport standout in football and baseball. He was a two-time All-PSAC wide receiver, graduating with a school record 2,146 receiving yards that still stands sixth in school history a quarter-century later. He was in the top 10 in Division II in receptions per game as a junior and senior, and his average of 30.3 yards per catch as a sophomore is the best in school history.
On the baseball diamond, he was All-PSAC as a pitcher, second baseman and outfielder during his career. He led the Warriors with a .378 batting average at the plate and 63 strikeouts on the mound in 1984, earning all-conference honors as a pitcher and second baseman, and was an All-PSAC outfielder and leader on the 1985 NCAA tournament squad. He was strength and conditioning coach for the Baltimore Orioles for 14 years and is currently the owner of PerformFit, a sports performance and fitness facility in Lutherville, Md. He resides in Parkton, Md., with his wife Amy and their two sons, Justin (9) and Casey (7), who he coaches in baseball.
The Warriors' 1994-95 women's basketball team is the first and only women's basketball team in school history to be crowned PSAC champions. ESU finished the season with a 25-5 record, setting a school record for victories, and beat Shippensburg (80-69) and Clarion (80-71) in the PSAC Final Four, which was played at Koehler Fieldhouse.
The squad was selected for the NCAA Division II Tournament and won its first round game at home, beating Clarion for the second time in four days, before falling to St. Rose in the second round.
Three members of the team have been inducted to the ESU Athletic Hall of Fame as individuals – head coach Rose Mohl Haller, guard Stacy Perryman and center Lori Pio, both juniors on the championship team.
Perryman scored 109 points over the final four games of the season and the “Killer P's” led ESU in scoring in 26 of its 30 games. Both players were named to the ECAC All-Region team and Perryman was the PSC East Player of the Year. Forward Melissa Swain also scored in double figures and forward Kristen Evans was second team All-PSAC East. Freshman Jill Bittner was the PSAC East Rookie of the Year.
