On offense, the returners are led by an offensive line that brings back all five starters who have combined for 107 career starts. R-Sr. C Dan Caffrey was 2nd team All-PSAC East and has started all 34 games of his career. R-Sr. Zach Sarginger, R-Jr. Seve Rivers and R-Jr. Wrenton Wright II all enter their third year as starters. Jr. TB Kendrick Williams was also 2nd team All-PSAC East last season, running for 668 yards and 9 TDs. R-Jr. WR Jordan Hallman started 6 games and is one of four veteran receivers on the roster.

On defense, the Warriors bring back five senior starters in DT Cody Berry, DT Rudy Cerami, LB Mike Bergey, LB Taylor Cave and CB Shawnte Carroll. Four of the seniors were redshirted in 2007, while Bergey was the only player in his class to play as a true freshman in 2008.

Groff set the school record with 16 field goals last season, going 16-for-21, including a perfect 12-for-12 mark from inside 40 yards. He was named to the Watch List for the Fred Mitchell Award, which will be presented to the nation's top kicker in Division II, III, NAIA or NJCAA following the season.

WHO'S GONE: QB Matt Marshall, WR Ed Kiser and WR Jeff Giglio all made their mark on ESU's record book. Marshall started 25 career games, led ESU to the NCAA Playoffs in 2009, and ranks 3rd at ESU in career total offense (7,057) and 4th in passing yards (6,403) and TD passes (61). Freed was the only defensive player among the regional finalists for the Harlon Hill Award and was also a 2-time Academic All-American.

EVERYBODY LOVES RAY: Ray Wagner will be the 29th player to start a game at QB in the Warriors' 38th season under head coach Denny Douds.

Wagner follows Matt Marshall, who made 25 career starts, after serving as the backup the last two seasons. This marks the first time since 1980-81 that a senior has started the season opener in back-to-back seasons. Barry Kennedy was in his 3rd year as a starter in 1980, and Brian Marshall (Matt's father) started 8 games, including the season opener, in 1981.

Wagner came to ESU from Susquehanna Township HS (Harrisburg area), where he was a 3-year starter and was 2nd team All-State after leading his team to the Mid-Penn AAA championship and a 10-2 record as a senior. He threw for 1,500 yards and 18 TDs and ran for 800 yards and 14 TDs in 2006.

He takes the controls of an ESU offense that has led the PSAC in passing in 6 of the last 9 years. In each of those years, an ESU QB has ranked in the top 3 in the PSAC in total offense - Jeremy Palm (2002), Jimmy Terwilliger (2003-06), Tim Roken (2007-08) and Marshall (2009-10).

ESU QB's IN THEIR FIRST CAREER STARTS
