He is the fifth men's soccer player to be named Academic All-America in the last 10 years. He joins
Nemanja Nikolic (2011), Toric Robinson (2009), Jorge Chapoy (2003) and Kamar Samuels (2002, 2003).
Wallace started 14 games at center back this year, missing three due to injury, and has started 47 games in his three-year career. He is a two-time All-PSAC first team and two-time All-Region selection.
The PSAC is also represented on the team by Bloomsburg forward Bryce Shaffer, who was named to the first team for the second straight season, and five players from Gannon – back Shane Hallett and midfielder Tyler Hollingsworth on the second team, and midfielder Alex Perri and forwards Robbie Bennett and Adam Sharbaugh on the third team.
The conference had one selection on the women's team in Gannon back Mary Reilly, who was named to the first team.
Wallace is the 27th ESU student-athlete to earn Academic All-America status. The Warriors had five Academic All-Americans last year in Nikolic, men's track and field athletes Dan Johnson and Ian Melhorn, and women's track and field and cross country runners Corinne Fitzgerald and Rose Mascoli.
This marks the second year that the Academic All-America programs, selected and administered by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America), are divided into four teams – Division I, Division II, Division III and College Division (NAIA, Canada and two-year schools). Teams were previously selected in the University Division (DI) and College Division (all others).
