EAST STROUDSBURG – Former East Stroudsburg University standout Duane Johnson has signed a professional basketball contract to play for Corio Bay Stingrays in Australia's State League.

Johnson (Lansdowne/Penn Wood) will join the team on February 1 in preparation for their season, which begins in March and runs through August 2014.

He joins teammate Terrance King as Warriors to sign professional contracts since the beginning of the summer. King is playing for UCD-Marian of Ireland's Super League, and is averaging 18.3 points, 12.5 rebounds and shooting 71.4 percent from the field in his first six games.

Johnson finished his career at ESU last winter as a three-time All-PSAC East selection, the third in school history, joining Jonathan Roberts and Lonnie White.

He was part of four straight PSAC Final Four teams and three NCAA Division II Tournament teams, helping the Warriors reach the NCAA Tournament in 2010, 2012 and 2013.

Johnson ranks seventh at ESU in career points (1,347), ninth in rebounds (608), fourth in steals (148), eighth in blocks (90) and second in free throws made (369). He and Roberts are the only two players in school history to rank in the top 10 in both steals and blocks.

He played 3,267 career minutes, the most by an ESU player since at least 1990, and led the Warriors in minutes played in each of the last three years.

Johnson began his career as a three-time PSAC East Freshman of the Week, averaging 6.9 points and 3.4 rebounds in 30 games on ESU's 2010 PSAC Final Four and NCAA Tournament team that set a school record with 24 wins.

He emerged as one of the Warriors' leaders as a sophomore, earning a spot on the All-PS AC East second team after leading ESU with 12.4 points per game and ranking third in rebounding (4.9 rpg). He had a career-high 26 points, along with eight rebounds and three blocks, in an 83-70 win at Kutztown in the PSAC quarterfinals to send ESU back to the Final Four for a second straight year.

As a junior, he was first team All-PSAC East and helped the Warriors to the second PSAC championship in school history. He averaged 12.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, ranking third on the Warriors in scoring and second in rebounding, assists, steals and blocked shots. He had 19 points, four rebounds, two assists four steals and a block in a 90-85 win at West Chester in the PSAC championship game, and averaged big all-around numbers (13.3 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.7 assists, 1.7 steals, 1.3 blocks) in the three-game run to the PSAC title.

During his senior year, Johnson was an All-PSAC East second team pick while helping ESU to its fourth straight PSAC Final Four and third NCAA Tournament in his career. He was second on the Warriors with 14.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, and ranked in the top 20 in the PSAC in four categories - scoring, rebounding, steals and blocks.

Johnson and King, a two-time All-PSAC East selection and the 2012 PSAC Tournament MVP, hold school records with 118 games played and 12 postseason games. They were members of a senior class that won two PSAC East championships (2010, 2013) and a school-record 82 games, along with their four PSAC Final Four trips, three NCAA Tournament trips and the 2012 PSAC championship.
