EAST STROUDSBURG - Several of East Stroudsburg University's top track and field athletes will make their yearly trek to Franklin Field in Philadelphia this weekend as the Warriors participate in the 119th Annual Penn Relays, which begin Thursday.

A total of 22 ESU athletes will compete during the three-day festival, which will include five relays - the men's 4x200, 4x400 and 4x800 and women's 4x200 and 4x400 - and nine individual participants.

The Warriors will have six individuals and one relay in action as the meet opens Thursday, beginning with sophomore indoor All-American Christina O'Connor in the women's Eastern high jump. The women's 4x400m relay will run at 6:20 p.m., followed by senior James Romano in the men's 3000m steeplechase, senior Corinne Fitzgerald in the women's 3000m steeplechase, junior Chris Schneider in the men's 5K, senior Rose Mascoli in the women's 10K and senior Frank Fezza in the men's 10K.

In Friday's relays, the men's 4x400 will compete in the Wetzler/Pennsylvania race at 4:55 p.m. The Warriors won back-to-back titles in 2010 and 2011 and previously won in 1984-85. The field of 10 schools, all from Pennsylvania, includes five Division I programs - Bucknell, Lehigh, Lafayette, St. Joseph's and Temple - along with PSAC schools Bloomsburg, Kutztown, Shippensburg, West Chester and ESU. The men's and women's 4x200m relays will also run on Friday.

Three individuals will compete on Saturday with sophomore Travis Toth in the men's College hammer, senior Matt Tholis in the men's Championship javelin and redshirt senior Josh Hontz in the men's College javelin. The men's 4x800m relay will run in the Championship of America to finish the weekend at 4:40 p.m.

THURSDAY

10:00 AM - Eastern High Jump - Christina O'Connor: season-best of 5-5 3/4 twice this year, at Washington & Lee in season opener and ESU's All-American Meet last weekend … All-America during indoor season, placing 6th in Division II at 5-8 … won PSAC indoor title … tied for 14th of 26 entrants last year at Penn … one of six ESU women's high jumpers to compete at Penn in last seven seasons … six-time All-American Lynn Mayer won the Eastern high jump as a freshman in 2008, placed 2nd as a sophomore and junior and 9th as a senior … Janelle Smith won in 2009 … Trina Carito (2010), Devyn Emerich (2009) and Leslie Martin (2007) also competed at Penn.

6:20 PM - Women's College 4x400m Relay - senior Lauren Ventrella, senior Aniyah Williams, sophomore Danielle Smith, sophomore Imani Rosario: same quartet that placed 4th in PSAC in 3:59.90 during indoor season … Warriors return 3 legs of last year's 4x4 at Penn (3:58.54) in Ventrella, Smith and Rosario … ESU's season best of 4:00.47 came in season opener at Washington & Lee (Ventrella, Wernerspach, Smith, Rosario) … includes two school record holders in Smith (outdoor 100, indoor 60 and 200) and Ventrella (100m hurdles, 60m hurdles) … Ventrella ran 58.0 on lead as a freshman in 2010 and 58.3 on 2nd leg last year at Penn … Smith anchored in 58.4 last year and Rosario ran 62.7 on 3rd leg … Ventrella and Smith will also run on 4x2 relay on Friday … Smith is defending PSAC champion in outdoor 100 and 200, and indoor 60 and 200 … Smith ranks #4 in PSAC in 100 (12.25) and 200 (25.09) this spring … Ventrella is tied for 2nd in 100 hurdles (14.55) and 5th in 400m hurdles (1:04.52) … Rosario scored in 800m at PSAC Indoor Championships … Williams scored in pentathlon indoors and is making her first trip to Penn … ESU's recent best at Penn is 3:53.78 in 2011 … ESU outdoor record of 3:51.91 came in 2000.

7:30 PM - Championship 3000m Steeplechase - James Romano: ranks #5 in PSAC this spring in 9:29.96 at Lafayette on March 30 … PR of 9:28.90 as a junior ranks 7th in school history … also has entries on ESU's indoor 5K and outdoor 3K list … placed 4th in PSAC Indoor Champions in 5K (15:12.73) this winter … member of ESU's NCAA DII Championship qualifying cross country team in the fall.

8:00 PM - Championship 3000m Steepelchase - Corinne Fitzgerald: set school record in 10:41.72 at Penn last year, finishing 8th of 23 runners … NCAA provisional qualifier in steeplechase (10:55.25 at Lafayette) and 5000m (17:16.06 at Bucknell) this spring … ranks #12 in DII and #2 in PSAC in steeplechase this year … third trip to Penn (ran 10:59.67 as a sophomore) … two-time NCAA DII participant in steeplechase … ran in NCAA Cross Country Championships as a junior in 2011 … placed 3rd in PSAC and 7th in Atlantic Region in cross country last fall.

9:20 PM - Championship 5K - Chris Schneider: ranks #4 in PSAC this spring in 14:57.37 at Bucknell on April 13 … time ranks 9th in school history … ran ESU's #4 time in 3K (8:42.38) at Washington & Lee in season opener … ranks #3 in indoor 3K (8:35.95) … member of ESU's NCAA DII Championships qualifying cross country team in the fall … PSAC Cross Country Freshman of the Year in 2011 … first career trip to Penn.

10:00 PM - Championship 10K - Rose Mascoli: third career trip to Penn, running in 5K last year and 10K as a sophomore in 2011 … finished 2nd in Championship 10K, running 34:39.13 (broke school record by 1:05 - lowered another 45 seconds at NCAA Championships) … ran 17:08.27 in 5K last year … outdoor All-American in 5K, placing 5th, and 10K, placing 3rd, at 2011 NCAA Outdoor Championships … All-America in cross country in 2010 (sophomore year) … holds school records in 3K (9:54.65), 5K (16:36.98) and 10K (33:54.74) … has season best of 37:23.03 in 10K in season opener at Washington & Lee … season-best 18:12.01 in 5K at Bucknell on April 13.

10:55 PM - Championship 10K - Frank Fezza: first time running the 10K in competition in his ESU career … has entries on ESU's outdoor 800m, 1500m, 3K and 5K list (only ESU athlete in top 10 in all 4) … All-America, PSAC and Atlantic Region runner-up in cross country last fall … finished 4th in PSAC in outdoor 5K last spring … 3rd in 5K and 5th in 3K at this year's PSAC Indoor Championships … holds school record in indoor 3K (8:30.45).


FRIDAY

1:30 PM - Men's College 4x200m Relay - junior Keith Parker-Washington, sophomore Kyle Rickard, sophomore Brett Yeomans, sophomore Mark Burgess: Parker-Washington (22.4), Rickard (23.0), Yeomans (23.1) and Ian Melhorn (20.8) combined for 1:29.42 last year at Penn … Parker-Washington ran 21.3 split on 2nd leg as a freshman in 2011 (1:25.97) … Parker-Washington ranks 6th in PSAC in open 200 (21.97) … he is a 4-time PSAC relay champion in the 4x4, including this winter … Rickard has an outdoor best of 22.42 … Yeomans' season best is 22.78 (ran 22.30 as a freshman) … Burgess ran 22.46 at Lafayette … he ran 7.03 in indoor 60m dash (ESU's #4 time) and placed 5th in PSAC … school record of 1:25.37 came at Penn in 2010.

1:50 PM - Women's College 4x200m Relay - junior Rachel Pierantozzi, junior Brittany Jones, sophomore Danielle Smith, senior Lauren Ventrella: Warriors return Pierantozzi, Ventrella and Smith from last year's 4x2 that ran 1:44.77 … Ventrella led off in 25.8, Pierantozzi ran 26.8 on 3rd leg and Smith anchored in 25.6 … Smith ranks 4th and Pierantozzi is 8th in PSAC in open 200 … all four are on ESU's all-time top 10 list in indoor 60m, including the top 3 spots (Smith 7.66, Ventrella 7.79, Pierantozzi 7.82) … Pierantozzi also ran on 4x2 at Penn as freshman in 2011 (26.0) and Ventrella ran on 4x2 as a freshman in 2010 (26.6) … school record of 1:41.62 came in 2002.

4:55 PM - Men's 4x400m Wetzler/Pennsylvania Relay - junior Keith Parker-Washington, sophomore Kyle Rickard, sophomore Damien Boham, senior Mike Saparito: Parker-Washington is back for his 3rd Wetzler/PA 4x4, leading off in 49.4 for winning squad (3:17.68) as a freshman in 2011 and running 50.0 last year … Boham anchored in 49.5 as a freshman a year ago (ESU was 5th of 7 in 3:21.82) … Parker-Washington, Boham and Saparito were 3/4 of PSAC indoor champion relay (3:17.98) this winter … Boham ranks #2 in PSAC in open 400 (48.75) this spring and has ESU's #4 time (47.92) … he was 2nd in PSAC outdoors  in 2012 and indoors in 2013 … Saparito ran on the 1st-place 4x4, 2nd-place 4x8, 3rd-place DMR and placed 3rd in 800 at PSAC Indoor Championships … he set school, meet and stadium records in 800 (1:51.97) at ESU's All-American Meet last Saturday … he also holds the indoor 800 record … Parker-Washington, Rickard and Boham contributed to 2012-best 3:15.98 (ESU's #4 time) last spring … school record of 3:13.91 was set at 2011 PSAC Championships with Parker-Washington leading off.

12:30 PM - College Javelin - Josh Hontz: has #8 mark in DII and #3 mark in PSAC of 207-3 at Lafayette on March 30 … NCAA DII runner-up (225-4) and PSAC champion (222-8) as a junior in 2011 … second trip to Penn - placed 2nd of 31 in College javelin at 210-10 in 2011 … redshirted in 2012 … also competed in NCAA Championships in 2010.

4:40 PM - Men's 4x800m Championship of America - sophomore Damien Boham, senior Amr Aldeen, junior Chris Schneider, senior Mike Saparito: Saparito (1:55.0) and Boham (1:58.1) were part of ESU's 7:45.15 last year, the top DII time and just over a second off the school record of 7:44.04 set in 1985 … Saparito is running the 4x8 at Penn for the 4th straight year … Aldeen and Schneider are making their Penn debuts for ESU … Saparito broke his own school record in the 800 (1:51.97) at ESU's All-American Meet on Saturday … Boham ran 1:54.80, ESU's #10 time … Aldeen has the #9 time in 1:54.69 as a junior in 2012 … Schneider, who runs the 5K on Thursday, has a career best of 1:59.26 … Boham, Schneider and Saparito ran on ESU's 2nd-place 4x8 (7:49.49) at the PSAC Indoor Championships.
