EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University redshirt junior quarterback Matt Soltes has been named the D2Football.com Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Warriors' 37-33 win at Shippensburg on Saturday.
 
Soltes (Vernon, N.J./Vernon) was 33-for-54 for 416 yards, four touchdowns and one interception and ran 13 times for 111 yards for 527 yards of total offense - his fifth career game with 500+ total yards, a PSAC record.

This is Soltes' second career national player of the week honor. He was also recognized as a redshirt freshman in 2012, setting a PSAC and NCAA all-division freshman record 666 total yards (535 passing, 131 rushing) in a 45-37 win at LIU Post.
 
Saturday at Shippensburg, Soltes led the Warriors to two fourth-quarter touchdowns to answer go-ahead scores by the Red Raiders. He threw a go-ahead 27-yard TD to redshirt junior wide receiver Jon Schnaars (14 catches, 152 yards, 2 TD) with 5:55 remaining after converting a fourth down on the drive with a pass to Schnaars.
 
Soltes was 9-for-11 for 142 yards and two TD in the fourth quarter to complete another historic day. Soltes had his second career game with 400+ yards passing and 100+ yards rushing, and has two of the three 400/100 games in PSAC history.
 
Soltes, the only returning Harlon Hill candidate in Super Region 1, leads the PSAC by a wide margin in passing yards (380.0 ypg) and total offense (430.8 ypg). He ranks second in DII in total offense and third in passing yards.

His 1,900 passing yards and 2,154 total yards are both the most through five games in ESU history. He has 500+ total yards in four of his last 10 games since October 19, 2013.
 
Soltes gained his third PSAC weekly award this season and the seventh of his career, second-most in school history behind quarterback Jimmy Terwilliger (9 from 2003-06).
 
Soltes' five career games of 500+ yards total offense are tied for the most in DII since 2001 with Tusculum's Bo Cordell (2009-13).
 
The Warriors host Cheyney on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
