Ally Roth was named the PSAC Offensive Athlete of the Year, leading five East Stroudsburg University players on the All-PSAC field hockey team released Wednesday.
Â
Roth (Scotrun, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) led the PSAC in goals and points and tied for the conference lead in assists in the regular season. She is the second ESU player named PSAC Athlete of the Year, joining forward Ashley Kocis in 2006.
Â
Roth represents ESU on the first team and is joined by two players on the second team - senior forward
Jessica Lawville and junior back
Amanda Wnorowski; and two on the third team - senior midfielder
Gabrielle Seibert and sophomore midfielder
Desiraye Mack.
Â
ESU advanced to the PSAC semifinals on Tuesday with a 2-1 win over Mercyhurst in the first round of the PSAC Tournament, getting goals from Seibert and Lawville. The Warriors face No. 1 seed West Chester at West Chester on Friday in the semifinals.
Â
Roth was ESU's only returning All-PSAC selection entering the season and earned her second straight spot on the first team.
Â
She has 22 goals and nine assists for 53 points - ranking fourth on ESU's single-season goals list and third on the points list. She had 21 goals and five assists as a sophomore in 2013.
Roth set ESU's career points record (128) earlier this year and has 53 career goals, three from ESU's record of 56 set by Kocis from 2003-06.
Â
Lawville (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico) ranked fourth in the PSAC in goals and points entering the postseason and earns a spot at forward on the All-PSAC second team. She scored her 16th goal of the season on Tuesday against Mercyhurst and has added four assists for 36 points. She has 39 career goals - fifth in school history - entering the PSAC semifinals at West Chester.
Â
Wnorowski (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) has started all 19 games at back this season, her second year as a starter, after appearing in the lineup in 18 of 19 games as a sophomore. She is a key part of an ESU defense that broke in a new starting goalkeeper for the third straight year.
Â
Seibert (Milton, Pa./Milton) moved from forward to midfield this fall and gains a spot on the All-PSAC third team as a senior. She has four goals and four assists this year after posting nine goals and seven assists at forward as a junior. She has started all 38 games over the last two seasons and has 19 goals and 12 assists for 50 career points.
Â
Mack (Waymart, Pa./Honesdale) has started every game in her first two years as a center midfielder and was named to the third team. She has three goals and six assists this season, including setting up Lawville's goal in the PSAC first round win over Mercyhurst.
ESU's five All-PSAC selections are its most since putting six players on the All-PSAC East team (five first team, one second team) in 2010. The Warriors last had five players on an All-PSAC team (single division) in 2006.
West Chester, the PSAC regular season champion, and No. 2 seed Millersville both have six all-conference selections. West Chester has five first team picks. No. 3 seed Shippensburg, ESU and No. 5 Mercyhurst all have five players selected.
The six PSAC Tournament teams combined for 28 of the 39 All-PSAC selections, including 12 of 13 on the first team.
