1st & 10 ... Complete Game Notes (PDF)1 • ESU (6-4) travels to Gannon (8-2) for the Warriors' 2014 season finale. The Warriors will look for a season-ending victory for the first time since 2011, and finish the year in Erie for the 2nd time in 3 years. ESU fell 52-45 at Mercyhurst in 2012.
2 • ESU head coach
Denny Douds, in his 41st season, has 250 career wins - 1st in PSAC history, 3rd in DII history, 20th in NCAA history and 3rd among active NCAA coaches.
2a • Douds has coached in 428 career games - 1st in PSAC and DII history, 9th in NCAA history and 1st among active NCAA coaches.
3 • Douds meets Gannon's Brad Rzyczycki for the 1st time - the 107th different head coach to face Douds on the sidelines. Rzyczycki is in his 3rd year as head coach of the Golden Knights.
4 • ESU will finish with a .500+ record for the 12th time in the last 15 years. The Warriors had their first 5-game, single-season winning streak since 2008 from Sept. 20 to Oct. 18 and opened with a 6-1 record before losses to Kutztown, Bloomsburg and West Chester the last 3 weeks.

Matt Soltes - the PSAC leader in passing, total offense and pass efficiency - has not played the last 2 games due to injury suffered early in the 3rd quarter vs. Kutztown on Oct. 25.
7 • Soltes is the only QB in Division II to rank in the top 10 nationally in total offense (3rd - 381.8 ypg), passing yards (3rd - 347.3 ypg) and pass efficiency (6th - 165.5).

Complete Game Notes (PDF)THE SERIES: ESU meets Gannon for the 3rd time on the gridiron in the 2014 season finale in Erie. The Warriors won the first two meetings, 23-10 at ESU in 2008 and 38-21 at Gannon in 2009. ESU finishes its season in Erie for the 2nd time in 3 years, falling 52-45 at Mercyhurst in the final game of the 2012 season. ESU (6-4 overall) finished tied for 3rd in the PSAC East (5-4), while Gannon (8-2 overall) tied for 1st in the PSAC West (7-2) but lost out on its first-ever trip to the State Game, losing a tiebreaker with Slippery Rock due to a 31-28 loss at the Rock on Oct. 4.
5 TAKEAWAYS FROM 35-24 L vs. WEST CHESTER1. ESU rallied from a 21-0 2nd-quarter deficit against No. 18-ranked West Chester with 17 straight points, and pulled within 28-24 entering the 4th quarter, before falling 35-24.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR vs. GANNON1. Jr. QB Liam Nadler is one of the top signal callers in DII. He ranks 2nd in the PSAC in total offense (317.2 ypg) behind ESU's
Matt Soltes (381.8 ypg), 3rd in passing (284.6 ypg) and 5th in pass efficiency (151.8).
2. Nadler has accounted for 80 career TD in 31 games - 56 passing and 24 rushing (19 pass, 9 rush in 2014).
3. Jr. TB Brock Jones leads the PSAC and is 8th in DII in rushing (145.2 ypg) and leads the PSAC with 224 carries.
He has almost identical numbers to Jansen Jones in 2013 (144.4 ypg - 7th in DII).
4. Sr. WR Justin Caliste is 2nd in the PSAC in receptions (8.4 per game) and receiving yards (102.6 ypg). One of the top multi-purpose players in DII, Caliste ranks 3rd among active DII players in career all-purpose yards (5,314).
5. The Golden Knights rank 11th in DII in rushing defense (91.1 ypg) but 117th in pass defense (237.2 ypg).
PSAC CHANGES: PSAC crossover games vs. Slippery Rock (Sept. 13) and Edinboro (Sept. 20) counted towards the PSAC's divisional standings for the first time in 2014, creating a 9-game PSAC schedule. Saturday's final crossover game against Gannon does not count.
TRENDING UP: ESU notched a 7-4 record in 2013, building on a 5-5 campaign in 2012 after consecutive 3-8 seasons in 2010 and 2011. Since 2000, the Warriors are 101-63 (.616) with a .500+ record in 12 of 15 seasons.
DOUDS' FOES: Douds faces Gannon's Brad Rzyczycki for the 1st time on Saturday ... he is the 107th head coach Douds has faced in his career at ESU ... Douds is 70-36 against first-time foes ... he faced Cheyney's Anthony Johnson (W 49-21) on Oct. 11 and Kutztown's Jim Clements (L 31-16) on Oct. 25 ... Douds faced Millersville's Gene Carpenter 27 times, and faced Danny Hale 26 times between his career at WCU and Bloom ... Among active coaches, his most frequent opponents are West Chester's Bill Zwaan (13), SRU's George Mihalik (9) and LIU Post's Bryan Collins (9).
PROGRAM WINS: ESU has a 466-311-19 (.597) record in its 87th year of varsity football. West Chester (568), IUP (527) and Slippery Rock (472) are the only other PSAC programs with at least 450 wins ... As head coach, Douds is responsible for 53.8 percent of the program's games (428 of 796), and 53.6 percent of its wins (250 of 466). Including 68 games and 45 wins as an assistant coach under Charlie Reese from 1966-73, he has coached in 496 of the 796 games (62.3 percent) and 295 of the 466 wins (63.3 percent) in program history.
