EAST STROUDSBURG – Redshirt senior Brendan McKeown, the reigning Outstanding Wrestler and champion at 174 pounds, leads five returning East Stroudsburg University placewinners into the 2014 Super Region 1 Tournament on Saturday and Sunday at Pitt-Johnstown.

McKeown, redshirt senior Braden Turner (165) and sophomore Tyson Searer (197) will all look for return trips to the NCAA Division II Championships, which will be held March 14-15 in Cleveland, Ohio

All three are ranked No. 2 in their respective weight classes in last week's regional rankings. Turner is ranked No. 4 in DII at 165, and McKeown is ranked No. 6 at 174.

Redshirt sophomore Eric Howey (149) and redshirt junior Luke DeLuise (184) are both ranked No. 4 in the region in their weight classes. Seedings for the regional will be announced on Friday.

The top three finishers at each weight class will advance to the NCAA's.

McKeown was the 174-pound champion last year, with Turner (157) and Searer (197) placing fourth, junior Anthony Marino (125) placing fifth and DeLuise (184) sixth in the region.

McKeown and Turner are both two-time national qualifiers and have earned All-America status for ESU. McKeown was sixth in DII at 174 last year, and Turner was sixth at 157 in 2012.

ESU has produced 11 national qualifiers among eight wrestlers in its first four years in Division II, with McKeown, Turner and Ed Ebewo (197 – 2011, 2012) making two trips each.

The Warriors have had three regional champions with Jeff Jacobs (174) in 2011, Ebewo (197) in 2012 and McKeown (174) last year.
