1st & 10 ... Complete Game Notes (PDF)1 • ESU travels to Kutztown for a key PSAC East game on the 4th Saturday in October. The Warriors (4-3, 3-1) and Golden Bears (3-4, 2-2) look to stay in the hunt for the divisional title after suffering OT losses this month. ESU fell to Shippensburg, 69-67 (5OT), on Oct. 3 and Kutztown fell at Bloomsburg, 27-21 (OT), last Saturday.
2 • Kutztown has won 4 of the last 5 meetings. The Warriors won in their last trip to Kutztown, 43-26, in 2013 as
Matt Soltes threw for 305 yards and 3 TD,
Robert Healy gained 192 yards (146 rushing, 46 receiving) and
Bryan Thomson had 3.5 of ESU's 8 sacks. Last fall, Kutztown prevailed 31-16 as Soltes suffered a season-ending injury on ESU's first possession of the 3rd quarter trailing 17-9.

Denny Douds holds the PSAC record for career wins (254), ranking 3rd in DII history, 20th in NCAA history and 3rd among active coaches.
4 • Douds holds the DII record and leads active coaches in career games (436). He coached his 500th overall game with the Warriors on Sept. 19 (56-12 W vs. Edinboro). Douds has been part of 504 of ESU's 804 games, and 299 of 470 wins, as a varsity program (since 1926).

DOUDS' MILESTONES: Douds is one of 13 men to reach 40 seasons as head coach in NCAA football history, the 9th to coach 40 years at one school, and the 5th to spend all of his 40+ year career at the same institution. He joins Eddie Robinson (Grambling, 1941-42, 45-97), John E. Dorman (Upper Iowa, 1905-06, 09-42, 45-59), Joe Paterno (Penn State, 1966-2011) and Jim Malosky (Minn.-Duluth, 1958-97) on that list.

THE HEAD COACHES: Denny Douds (Slippery Rock '63) has a career record of 254-179-3 (.586) in his 42nd season. He has led the Warriors to 9 PSAC titles and 4 NCAA Playoff appearances since taking over as head coach in 1974. His teams won outright state titles in 1975, 1978 and 1982 before the State Game was discontinued following the 1987 season. His teams have claimed PSAC East divisional titles in 1975, 1976, 1978, 1980, 1982, 1983, 1991, 2002 and 2003. NCAA Playoff appearances have come in 1991, 2004, 2005 - when the Warriors won the Northeast Region title and advanced to the national semifinals - and 2009.
Jim Clements (Widener '96) is 9-9 in his 2nd season at Kutztown, and has a career record of 75-33 in his 10th collegiate season, including a mark of 66-24 in 8 years at Delaware Valley (2006-13). Kutztown was 6-5 (5-4 PSC East) in his inaugural season in 2014. He previously led Delaware Valley to 4 straight Middle Atlantic Conference championships (2008-11) and 3 NCAA 2nd round appearances (2009-11). He was a 3-time MAC Coach of the Year and posted an 11-1 record in 2011, including an undefeated regular season. Clements was assistant head coach/defensive coordinator for 2 years following a 6-year stint his alma mater, Widener.
