EAST STROUDSBURG - Redshirt senior quarterback Matt Soltes was named PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Year and is joined by redshirt senior wide receiver Jon Schnaars and redshirt junior tailback Robert Healy on the All-PSAC East first team, the conference announced Thursday.

Soltes, Schnaars and Healy are three of ESU's eight all-conference selections. Senior wide receiver Gerard Wendowski, freshman offensive tackle Michael Fleming, redshirt junior defensive end Ahmad McFarland, redshirt sophomore outside linebacker Sekou Jones and senior cornerback/kick returner Teron Dobbs were named to the second team.

Soltes is the third ESU player to be named PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Year, joining quarterbacks Jimmy Terwilliger (2003-04, 06) and Andy Baranek (1983).

Soltes, Schnaars and Healy give ESU a quarterback, wide receiver and running back on the All-PSAC East first team for the fifth time in program history and the first since 2005.

Soltes (Vernon, N.J./Vernon), a two-time Harlon Hill candidate and a nominee again this fall, is named to the All-PSAC East team for the third time. He was a second team selection as a sophomore in 2013 (behind 2012 Harlon Hill recipient Zach Zulli of Shippensburg) and junior in 2014 (behind 2014 Harlon Hill finalist Sean McCartney of West Chester). He was PSAC East Freshman of the Year in 2012.

He leads Division II passing yards per game (354.5) and passing TD (41) and ranks second in DII in total offense per game (373.6), leading the PSAC in all three categories. He ranks third in PSAC history in single-season passing yards per game and total offense per game, behind only ESU's Damian Poalucci in 1996 and Zulli in 2012.

He was 277-for-486 for 3,900 yards, 41 TD and 11 interceptions and had 78 carries for 210 yards and a TD as a senior this season.

In his career, he set PSAC records for passing yards per game (313.6 - 7th in DII history) and total offense per game (351.0 - 2nd in DII history), ranking second in conference history in career passing yards (12,544), total offense (14,038) and passing TD (126) and third in career TD responsible for (133).

Soltes holds five DII records - career TD passes per game (3.15), career games with 5+ TD passes (13), games with 500 yards total offense (6), games with 600 yards total offense (2) and is the fifth QB in DII history with 3,000 yards total offense in all four seasons of his career. He is the fourth DII QB to throw for 12,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in his career.

This season, he led fourth-quarter comebacks in wins over Bloomsburg and Lock Haven and had 616 yards total offense (594 passing) and tied a PSAC record with nine TD passes in a 69-67 (5OT) loss vs. Shippensburg. He finished the season with 461 yards total offense (435 passing) and five TD in a 49-37 win vs. Gannon, the PSAC West preseason favorite. He had eight games with 300 yards passing (22 career), four games with 400 yards passing (10 career), six games with 300 yards total offense (24 career) and five games with 400 yards total offense (14 career).

He is the ninth ESU quarterback named to the All-PSAC East first team, joining Glen Ray (1964-65), Steve Mummaw (1970), Mike Terwilliger (1975-76), Barry Kennedy (1978-79), Andy Baranek (1982-84), Damian Poalucci (1996), Jeremy Palm (2002) and Jimmy Terwilliger (2003-06). The Warriors have had an All-PSAC East quarterback in 19 of 38 years since Mike Terwilliger became an assistant coach in 1978, including 12 times on the first team.

Healy (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) is also on the All-PSAC East team for the third straight year, earning a spot on the first team for the first time. He was the PSAC East Freshman of the Year in 2013.

He leads the PSAC and ranks 11th in DII in yards from scrimmage per game (149.2) and is the only player in college football with 750 yards rushing (884) and receiving (757) this season.

He gained 1,641 yards from scrimmage with more than 100 yards in 10 of 11 games. He had 156 carries for 884 yards (5.7 per carry) and a TD, and 52 catches for 757 yards (14.6 per catch) and three TD.

Healy set ESU career records for rushing yards (2,830) and yards from scrimmage (4,352) in just 33 career games through his junior year. He has the top three seasons in yards from scrimmage by a back in program history, with more than 1,300 yards all three years.

Schnaars (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) is DII's leading receiver with 114 catches, 1,610 yards and 22 TD, averaging 10.4 receptions and 146.4 yards per game. He ranks second on the PSAC's single-season list in receptions, third in yards and tied for second in TD.

He had 100 yards receiving in nine of 11 games, including three 200-yard games. He set PSAC records with 20 catches and seven TD and had 218 yards in the five-overtime game vs. Shippensburg, had nine catches for 200 yards and two TD in a 56-12 win vs. Edinboro and 16 catches for 222 yards and four TD in the 49-37 win vs. Gannon in the final game of the season. He had the go-ahead two-point conversion with 1:10 remaining in ESU's 35-34 win vs. Bloomsburg, its first win over the Huskies since 2005.

In his career, Schnaars ranks first at ESU in receptions (239), third in yards (3,447) and second in TD, and fifth in PSAC history in receptions, eighth in yards and tied for fifth in TD.

He was previously named to the All-PSAC East second team in 2014 with 58 catches, 807 yards and 14 TD.

Previous ESU trios to be named first team All-PSAC East at quarterback, running back and receiver were in 2005 (Jimmy Terwilliger, Anthony Carfagno, Evan Prall), 2004 (Terwilliger, Carfagno, Tim Strenfel), 2003 (Terwilliger, Carfagno, John Jeffires) and 1976 (Mike Terwilliger, Pete Radocha, Tom Palubinski).

ESU's group is the first in the PSAC East since Shippensburg in 2012.

Wendowski (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) had 49 catches for 781 yards and nine TD, including three straight games with more than 100 yards receiving.

He had 10 catches for 222 yards and two TD vs. Shippensburg, five catches for 118 yards and a TD at Cheyney and six catches for 110 yard and two TD vs. Millersville. He had five catches for 40 yards and three TD, including the game-winning nine-yard TD from Soltes with 1:32 remaining, in ESU's 37-34 win at Lock Haven.

Fleming (Easton, Pa./Easton) is the first ESU freshman offensive lineman to earn All-PSAC status in 40 years, since Jeff Detzi (1975) and Eric Slavinsky (1974) - the Warriors' first two seasons under head coach Denny Douds.

He started the final eight games of the season at right tackle, making his debut at Lock Haven, and has helped ESU rank second in DII in passing offense (361.5 ypg), 12th in total offense (488.0 ypg) and 18th in scoring offense (40.0 ppg).

Defensively, Jones, McFarland and Dobbs represent the Warriors on the all-conference second team.

Dobbs (Bridgeport, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) is recognized at cornerback for the second straight year. He played in 10 games (eight starts) at cornerback with 38 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and seven pass breakups. He finished his career with 38 starts over four seasons, ranking tied for ninth at ESU with 13 career interceptions.

On special teams, he averaged 20.3 yards on 11 punt returns, including a 64-yard TD vs. Kutztown, and 20.4 yards on 10 kick returns. He set ESU's career record for punt return average (19.5).

Jones (Effort, Pa./Pleasant Valley) was ESU's top tackler in his first season as a starter at outside linebacker, with 73 tackles, 8.0 tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery.

McFarland (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) had 29 tackles, 7.5 TFL, 2.0 sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a blocked kick. He has made 20 consecutive starts at defensive end, including final nine games of the 2014 season.

McFarland and Jones were the only players to start all 11 games on defense this season as the Warriors had 19 players start games, including 18 with multiple starters.
