EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior forward Ally Roth, junior midfielder Desiraye Mack and junior back Emily Howell, who led East Stroudsburg University to the 2015 NCAA Division II field hockey championship, were named to the NFHCA DII All-America first team on Monday.

Roth, Mack and Howell also earned first team honors from Synapse Sports. Senior midfielder Rebecca Snyder was named to the second team, and freshman midfielder Paige Harrold landed on the All-Rookie team.

ESU head coach Sandy Miller was named Synapse Sports DII Coach of the Year. The NFHCA major postseason awards are expected to be announced later this week.

ESU has three first team All-America selections for the second time in program history, joining forward Kim Singleton, link Stacie Fritz and goalkeeper Katie Horst in 1997. The Warriors have multiple first-team selections for the first time since 2006.

Roth is the second three-time first team NFHCA All-America in program history, joining Fritz (1995-97). Back Carol Myers was selected on the All-College team at the Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Tournament three straight years (1972-74).

Roth, Mack and Howell were all named to the All-PSAC first team this season. Howell was named PSAC Tournament MVP, helping the Warriors to their first conference title with a 1-0 win vs. Millersville on November 8 at Whitenight Field.

ESU topped West Chester, 6-2, in the DII semifinals on November 20 at Bloomsburg and won the first national title in program history, 1-0 (OT) vs. Merrimack, on a penalty stroke by Roth on November 22.

ESU and West Chester led the way with three first team All-America selections on the NFHCA team. The PSAC gained 19 of the 32 spots on the NFHCA squad, represented by seven schools - West Chester (5), Millersville (4), ESU (3), Kutztown (3), Shippensburg (2), Bloomsburg (1) and Slippery Rock (1). The conference had 10 of the 16 first team selections.

The PSAC had 17 of the 32 spots on the Synapse Sports All-America team, nine on the first team and eight on the second team.

ESU (19-3), which set a school record for wins, finished the season ranked second of 31 DII schools in goals against average (0.77) and fourth in goals per game (3.05).

Roth (Scotrun, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) finished her career at ESU with school records in goals (74) and points (172). She ranks tied for eighth in goals and eighth in points in PSAC history, and 12th in goals and 13th in points in DII history.

She had 21 goals and two assists for 44 points this season, ranking fourth in DII in goals per game (0.95) and sixth in points per game (2.0).

Roth had seven multi-goal games as a senior, including all three goals in a 3-2 win at IUP on October 17 and both goals in a 2-1 win at Kutztown on October 24.

She scored ESU's third goal in the 6-2 win vs. West Chester in the national semifinals. She earned the penalty stroke and converted 4:48 into overtime in the national championship game vs. Merrimack.

Roth had 21 goals and five assists as a sophomore in 2013 and 22 goals and nine assists as a junior in 2014 to earn her first two All-America honors. She had 10 goals and eight assists and was named to the Synapse Sports All-Rookie team in 2012. She was named first team All-PSAC in each of her final three seasons and was the 2014 PSAC Offensive Athlete of the Year.

Mack (Waymart, Pa./Honesdale) was ESU's second-leading scorer with 12 goals and two assists as a center midfielder. She had four multi-goal games, including scoring twice in the 6-2 win vs. West Chester in the DII semifinals.

A first team All-PSAC selection after being named to the third team as a sophomore in 2014, Mack has started all 61 games in her three seasons at ESU.

Howell (Bangor, Pa./Bangor), in her first season as a full-time starter, was named first team All-PSAC at back and had four goals and three assists offensively, including a goal and two assists in a 5-0 win at Seton Hill.

She started 13 games as a sophomore, with three goals and three assists, and had two goals and an assist as a freshman. She has played in all 61 games in her career, making 36 starts.

Snyder (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) started all 22 games in the midfield and was ESU's third-leading scorer with six goals and nine assists. She scored the game's only goal in a 1-0 win vs. Millersville on October 13, and ESU's first goal in both postseason wins vs. West Chester, 3-1 in the PSAC semifinals and 6-2 in the DII semifinals.

Harrold (York, Pa./Central York) played in all 22 games and made one start as a freshman, contributing four goals and four assists. She scored in each of ESU's three wins vs. West Chester, once in the regular season and twice in the postseason.

Miller gains her fourth national coach of the year award and was previously recognized by the NFHCA in 1993, 1994 and 2001, when the Warriors were national runner-up in their only other appearance in the DII championship game. She has a career record of 376-259-11 (.591) in 32 seasons, including seven NCAA Tournament appearances and 13 PSAC Tournament appearances after guiding the Warriors to their first conference and national titles.
