EAST STROUDSBURG - Sophomore Tyler Richardson remains No. 1 in the region at 197 pounds for the third straight set of rankings as East Stroudsburg University prepares for this week's NCAA Division II Super Region 1 Tournament on Friday and Saturday at West Liberty.

Seeding for the tournament will be released on Thursday evening.

Richardson (15-7, 8-1 in-region) will enter the regional with a 2-0 record against wrestlers currently ranked in the top 6 at 197 pounds. He had an 8-6 decision over No. 6 Jalal Paige (Shippensburg), then ranked No. 1, on January 13, and pinned No. 2 Chase Long (Ohio Valley) in 3:10 on January 17.

Junior Tyson Searer is ranked No. 3 at 285 pounds, moving up one spot from No. 4. Searer (21-7, 11-4 in-region) finished a 13-1 dual season last week. An NCAA DII national qualifier at 197 as a freshman in 2013, Searer has won 11 straight matches (nine on the mat) entering the regional.

Redshirt senior Luke DeLuise remains ranked No. 4 at 184 pounds. DeLuise (13-7, 11-4 in-region) is 4-2 against wrestlers currently ranked at 184, including splitting against No. 2 Dakota DesLauriers (Mercyhurst) and No. 3 Andre Petroski (Kutztown).

ESU is tied for sixth in the team tournament rankings entering the regional.

The top four finishers at each weight class will advance to the NCAA DII Championships on March 13-14 in St. Louis.

ESU has had nine wrestlers combine for 12 NCAA qualifying spots in the last five years since reclassifying to DII prior to the 2009-10 season. ESU has had at least one national qualifier each year.
