Whis Grant earned his third straight first team honor, leading three East Stroudsburg University players on the All-PSAC East men's basketball team released Wednesday.
Sophomore forward
Rasheed Moore, last year's Freshman of the Year, was named to the second team for the second straight year to open his career.
ESU (18-9, 16-6), which won its third straight PSAC East regular season title, hosts Millersville in the PSAC quarterfinals on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Koehler Fieldhouse.
Led by head coach
Jeff Wilson, ESU is the first school to win three straight PSAC East titles since 1985-87 (Millersville), and the first to win three straight outright PSAC East titles since 1976-80 (Cheyney).
Tobin (Hopatcong, N.J./Hopatcong) leads the PSAC in assists (6.3 apg), assist-to-turnover ratio (2.4) and steals (2.3 spg) for the second straight year to take home the division's top honor.
The first PSAC player with 1,000 career points (1,033) and 500 assists (532) since 2001, Tobin has guided ESU to a 70-18 overall record (49-11 PSAC) in the last three years. He is the first player to be the starting point guard on three straight outright PSAC division title teams in at least 35 years.
Tobin, averaging 9.5 points per game, is also the first player to be named PSAC Athlete of the Year in either division while scoring less than 10 points per game. The conference's player of the year awards began in 1988.
Grant (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) is the second ESU player to be named to the All-PSAC East team three times in his career, joining all-time leading scorer and rebounder Jonathan Roberts (1988-90).
Grant ranks second in program history in career points (1,838) and is averaging 13.0 points, a career-high 3.5 assists and has a 2.4 assist-to-turnover ratio (2nd in the PSAC) this season.
Grant is a two-time All-America selection, two-time first team All-Region selection and was the PSAC East Athlete of the Year in 2013. He is ESU's top scorer for the fourth straight year, averaging 17.6 points in each of the last two seasons and 13.9 as a freshman in 2012, starting his career as the only freshman in conference history to lead a PSAC championship team in scoring.
Tobin and Grant are the first teammates to be named PSAC Athlete of the Year (either division) while both are current members of their program.
They are the first PSAC East teammates to repeat as first team all-conference selections since Kutztown's Dave Ben and Stephen Dennis in 2008 and 2009.
Grant, Roberts, Duane Johnson (2011-13) and Lonnie White (1991-93) are the only four ESU players to earn three career all-conference honors.
Moore (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Meyers) is a member of the second team for the second straight year. He is ESU's third-leading scorer (12.5 ppg) and top rebounder (6.4 rpg) this season after ranking second in scoring (13.6 ppg) and first in rebounding (6.3 rpg) on last year's 30-2 PSAC championship team.
