1 • ESU (0-2) hosts Edinboro (0-2) on Family Weekend at Eiler-Martin Stadium. Head coach Denny Douds is on the sidelines for his 500th game at ESU - 432nd as head coach since 1974, following 68 as an assistant from 1966-73.
1a • This week's game is the 800th in program history. ESU is 466-314-19 (.595) as a varsity program since becoming a 4-year school in 1926.

2 • ESU is 23-18 in Family Weekend games under Douds and has won 2 of the last 3 - 48-21 vs. Lock Haven last fall, and 59-27 vs. Cheyney in 2012.

3 • Douds has coached in the most games (431) among active NCAA football coaches and ranks 9th in NCAA history. He holds the PSAC record, ranks 3rd in DII history, 20th in NCAA history and 3rd among active NCAA coaches in career wins.
3a • Douds is in his 42nd season as head coach and 50th at ESU overall.

4 • In his first 499 games at ESU, the Warriors are 295-199-5 (.596). Douds has coached in 63.3 percent of the 466 wins in program history.

5 • ESU and Edinboro have met 12 times since 2000, including twice in the NCAA Division II Playoffs. ESU won 36-32 in the 1st round in 2004 for the first playoff victory in program history.
5a • Two of Douds' three outright PSAC titles in the State Game were won vs. Edinboro - 1975 (24-20, home) and 1982 (24-22, away).

6 • Both teams enter with an 0-2 record as they play their final game before PSAC divisional play begins next week. The Warriors last started 0-3 in 1998. The Fighting Scots started 0-5 last year and were 1-8 before winning their final 2 games.

7 • R-Sr. QB Matt Soltes is a 2-time Harlon Hill candidate, joining 2014 winner Jason Vander Laan (QB, Ferris St) as the only active 2-time candidates. Soltes leads active DII QB's in career total offense per game (339.2 ypg - 4th in DII history) and career total offense (10,516). In 28 career starts, Soltes leads current DII QB's in games with 300 (19), 400 (9) and 500 (5) yards of total offense.

8 • R-Jr. TB Robert Healy leads active PSAC players in career yards from scrimmage per game (126.3 ypg), 8th among active players in DII. He has 319 yards from scrimmage (173 rushing, 146 receiving) thru 2 games this season. Healy went over the 3,000-yard mark for his career last week and has 2,119 career rushing yards, 460 yards from ESU's career record

9 • R-Sr. WR Jon Schnaars is moving up ESU's career receiving charts. He is currently 9th in catches (138), 11th in yards (2,085) and t-5th in TD receptions (24).

10 • Healy has 100+ yards from scrimmage in 19 of 24 career games. Schnaars has 9 games with 100 yards receiving (t-4th in school history).

THE SERIES: ESU holds a 12-6 advantage in the all-time series which dates to the 1967 season. The two schools have met 12 times since 2000, getting together every season from 2000-06, including twice in 2004 - a 20-7 road win in the regular season, and a 36-32 win in the 1st round of the NCAA Playoffs for ESU's first-ever postseason victory. Edinboro won at ESU, 31-16, in the 2009 NCAA Playoffs. ESU is 10-6 against Edinboro under Denny Douds and won the first 2 meetings in the State Game, 24-20 at home in 1975 and 24-22 at Edinboro in 1982. The Warriors won 47-34 last year as QB Matt Soltes threw for 502 yards and 6 TD, and WR Dusty Reed had 9 catches for 170 yards and 4 TD.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR vs. EDINBORO
1. R-Sr. QB Matt Soltes had 532 total yards (502 passing, 6 TD) in last year's 47-34 win. Two of his top 3 targets from that game return in Schnaars (7-107, TD) and Healy (8-98, TD). Dusty Reed had 9 catches for 170 yards and 4 TD.
2. Edinboro's top receivers have fared well vs. ESU recently. David Bostic had 17 catches for 176 yards and 1 TD in 2 games (2011 - 11-91; 2010 - 6-85, TD), and current Jr. WR Darren Massey had 10 catches, 103 yards and 3 TD last year.
3. ESU leads the PSAC in red zone defense, holding opponents to 7-for-13 with 5 TD allowed inside the 20-yard line.

He joins his father, Mike Terwilliger, ESU's offensive coordinator, on Denny Douds' staff ... Mike Terwilliger enters his 38th year as assistant coach after 4 years as ESU's starting QB from 1974-77 - Douds' first 4 years as head coach ... Mike was a 2-time 1st team All-PSAC East selection, leading ESU to a 30-4-1 record, the 1975 PSAC championship (10-0) and a tie in the 1976 State Game (9-0-1) ... Jimmy was 36-12 in 4 years as ESU's starting QB from 2003-06 and is the only 4-time 1st team All-PSAC East QB in conference history ... he set 18 DII and 2 NCAA all-division records, tying the all-time mark with 148 career TD passes and setting DII records for passing yards (14,350) and total offense (16,064), among other standards.
