ESU Women’s Soccer Slotted No. 7 in NCAA DII Atlantic Region Rankings

PSAC Semifinal Preview at West Chester (Friday, 11 a.m.)

EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University is No. 7 in this week's NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Atlantic Region rankings which will determine the region's participants in the NCAA Tournament.

ESU (14-4-1), the defending regional champion, dropped one spot from No. 6 in last week's rankings.

The Warriors finished the regular season with two wins last week, 8-2 at Bloomfield on Monday and 4-1 at Gannon on Saturday.

ESU, the two-time defending PSAC champion, posted a 5-0 win vs. Slippery Rock in its PSAC quarterfinal game on Tuesday, which is not included in this week's rankings.

The Warriors travel to West Chester for the PSAC Final Four this weekend and will play West Chester (currently 18-0) in the semifinals on Friday at 11 a.m. ESU fell 1-0 at West Chester in the final minute of regulation on October 11.

Three of the four PSAC semifinalists are included in this week's regional rankings - No. 1 West Chester, No. 2 Kutztown and No. 7 ESU. Gannon upended No. 5 Edinboro, 1-0 (OT), in the other quarterfinal on Tuesday. Slippery Rock was ranked No. 8 in the region.

The PSAC champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The field for the Atlantic Regional will include the top six teams in the final regional rankings, after accounting for automatic bids in the PSAC and Mountain East Conference.

ESU has qualified for the NCAA DII Tournament four times (1997, 2008, 2014, 2015). Last year's regional title was the first in program history.

The complete NCAA Tournament field will be released on Monday (Nov. 7) at 7 p.m. on ncaa.com.
