EAST STROUDSBURG - Graduate student Travis Toth (weight throw), senior William Berry (high jump) and freshman Akeim Thomas (60m hurdles) all have the top marks in their events as East Stroudsburg University prepares for the 2016 PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday and Sunday at Edinboro.

Toth and Berry are two of five ESU men's athletes who have won PSAC individual championships in their careers, along with junior hurdler Steven Morgan, senior sprinter Derrick Washington and senior multi-event athlete Eric Conard.

Junior Allison Decker, an NCAA DII qualifier in cross country in the fall, leads ESU's women's team.

The Warriors' men's team has finished in the top four in the PSAC in the last 14 championships (indoor and outdoor) since 2009, including seven runner-up finishes. ESU was fourth indoors and third indoors last year (2015), and also had repeat runner-up finishes indoors and outdoors in 2010.

ESU's women were seventh indoors and sixth outdoors last year, and previously placed in the top five in 10 straight championships from 2009 (outdoors) through 2014 (indoors).

A total of 43 ESU athletes have individual qualifying mark for the meet. The men have 23 athletes who posted 33 PSAC qualifying marks, and the women have 20 athletes for 29 total marks.

Toth has the PSAC's leading mark in the weight throw (62-11 1/4) and is the only PSAC athlete to surpass 59 feet this year, a mark that he has reached five time. Toth hit his season best, ranked No. 11 on the NCAA DII provisional qualifying list, at ESU's DeSchriver Invitational on February 6.

Toth returned to the Warriors following a redshirt season in 2015. He won PSAC championships in the weight throw (indoors) and hammer (outdoors) in his last season of competition in 2014 after finishing runner-up in both events in 2013. He is a three-time national qualifier and was All-America with an eight-place finish in the hammer in 2014.

Berry's mark of 7-0 1/2 in the high jump, a school record, is tied for 3rd on the NCAA qualifying list which he hit on January 15 at Kutztown. Berry is a two-time PSAC outdoor champion, has been runner-up indoors the last two years, and has finished in the top three in all six of his PSAC Championships entering his senior season.

Thomas ran 8.13 in the 60m hurdles two weeks ago at Staten Island, the PSAC's top time this year and tied for 18th nationally. He is also ranked 10th in the PSAC in the 200m (22.45) and tied for 12th in the 60m dash (7.10).

Morgan trails Thomas by one-hundredth of a second (8.14) on the 60m hurdles list, 21st in DII. Morgan has won three straight PSAC hurdles championships, capturing the 60m indoors last year around 110m hurdles titles outdoors in 2014 and 2015. Morgan also sits 18th on the PSAC long jump list (21-4 3/4).

Junior Sean Hagerty ranks third in the long jump (22-9) and junior La Treil Ridgeway is sixth in the triple jump (45-10 1/2) to round out ESU's top-eight seeds.

Washington, tied for 16th on the 400m list (50.41), is the defending PSAC champion in the outdoor 400m (47.72) which he ran last year at Eiler-Martin Stadium. Washington is a four-time PSAC scorer, including three times in the 400m. He has placed fifth (2015) and sixth (2014) in the last two indoor championships.

Conard is the defending PSAC champion in the decathlon and a four-time scorer in the multis. He has placed fifth (2015) and seventh (2014) in the heptathlon, ranking 12th this year. He is also the 10th seed in the pole vault (14-5 1/4).

On the women's side, Decker has the fifth-best time in the 5000m (17:29.29), just off the NCAA provisional qualifying standard. She is also ranked ninth in the 3000m (10:18.42), just behind senior teammate Chelsea Conover (10:17.52). Conover is eighth in both the 3000m and the mile (5:08.45).

ESU's strength continues in the 800m, with two of the top 10 seeds in junior Lauren Toth (8th - 2:19.60) and sophomore Kaylyn West (9th - 2:20.05). The Warriors have the PSAC's best time to date in the 4x800m relay (1:02.64), turned in by Toth, freshman Brianna Thomas, West and sophomore Samantha Young.

Freshman Marissa Flim leads the sprinters, seeded tied for sixth in the 60m dash (7.86) and 21st in the 200m (26.29).

Three ESU freshmen are qualified in the high jump in Victoria Matthews (t-9th - 5-3), Victoria Collins (t-12th - 5-2 1/2) and Carly Gregas (t-20th - 5-1).

The PSAC Championships begin on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with selected field events, followed by track events beginning at 12:45 p.m. On Sunday, action gets underway at 10:30 a.m. (multis day 2), 11 a.m. (field events) and 11:30 a.m. (track).
