Travis Toth (hammer) and junior
Steven Morgan (110m hurdles) have the top marks in their events as East Stroudsburg University prepares for the 2016 PSAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held Thursday through Saturday at Mansfield University.
Toth and Morgan are two of five ESU men's athletes who have won PSAC individual championships in their careers, along with senior high jumper
William Berry, senior sprinter
Derrick Washington and senior decathlete
Eric Conard. Toth, Morgan and Berry all enter with three career PSAC titles.
Junior
Allison Decker, an NCAA DII qualifier in cross country in the fall, leads ESU's women's team.
The Warriors' men's team has finished in the top four in the PSAC in the last 15 championships (indoor and outdoor) since 2009, including seven runner-up finishes (2009 outdoors, 2010 indoors/outdoors, 2011 outdoors, 2013 indoors, 2014 indoors/outdoors). The Warriors were third indoors this winter.
ESU's women were ninth in the indoor championships. They previously placed in the top five at 10 straight championships from 2009 (outdoors) through 2014 (indoors) and have placed seventh (2014) and sixth (2015) in the last two PSAC outdoor meets.
A total of 50 ESU athletes have individual qualifying marks for the meet. The men have 29 athletes who have posted 41 PSAC qualifying marks, and the women have 21 athletes for 35 total marks.
Toth has the PSAC's leading mark in the hammer (202-2), which ranks No. 9 on the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying list. He is the defending PSAC indoor champion in the weight throw and previously won PSAC championships in the weight throw and hammer (outdoors) in his most recent season of competition in 2014.
Morgan has the PSAC's top time in the 110m hurdles (14.35) and is the two-time defending champion in the event, along with a PSAC indoor title in the 60m hurdles in 2015. He was second in the 60 hurdles indoors this season. His season best is three-hundredths off his school record (14.32) that he ran to win the PSAC title last spring at ESU's Eiler-Martin Stadium.
Berry enters with the PSAC's No. 3 mark in the high jump (6-9 3/4) and is the two-time defending outdoor champion, along with his 2016 indoor title this winter.
Morgan and Berry both rank No. 20 on the NCAA DII provisional lists in their events.
