ESU, which claimed the 2017 PSAC championship with a 1-0 win over Gannon on Sunday, receives six all-conference selections for the first time since the program's most-recent PSAC title run in 2007. The Warriors have now won 20 PSAC men's soccer championships overall, a total which is tied with Lock Haven for the most in conference history.
Espinola (Philadelphia, Pa./Franklin Towne Charter) becomes the first ESU player to take home Defensive Athlete of the Year accolades since the award was created in 2013. He has started all 69 games at center back for the Warriors in his four-year career, including all 19 contests this season. Espinola leads a defense which has limited opponents to one goal over the last 799:39 minutes of game action, and 15 goals in 19 games overall.
The Philadelphia native has also contributed three goals and an assist on offense this fall. He tallied the game-winning goal in ESU's 3-0 win over Mercyhurst in the first round of the PSAC tournament, and he scored a late game-tying goal in the Warriors' eventual 4-3 double-overtime victory at Shippensburg on Sept. 27.
"Keelby has been a mainstay on our backline throughout his career," head coach
Rob Berkowitz said. "He's a really good individual defender, he's strong in the air and he organizes everyone else around him during the game. He is certainly very deserving of this award."
Enowbi and Bukowski join Espinola as first team All-PSAC honorees. Enowbi (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) has been the top goal scorer and point producer for the Warriors this season, as he enters the NCAA tournament with 20 points on the year (9 G, 2 A). Eighteen of his points have come in the past 12 games, and four of his nine goals have been game-winners. Enowbi provided the deciding goal in PSAC wins over Lock Haven (Oct. 4) and Bloomsburg (Oct. 15) and he scored the game-winner in double overtime against Bridgeport on Oct. 10. One of four Warriors to start all 19 games, he also leads ESU in shots (51) and shots on goal (24).
Bukowski (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) becomes the first Warrior to repeat as a first team All-PSAC honoree since midfielder Nick Fischer in 2011 and 2012. He has started 17 games in his senior campaign, totaling three goals and five assists. Nine of his 11 points have come in the past eight games, including a game-winning goal at Chestnut Hill on Oct. 26 and a three-point performance (1 G, 1 A) two days later against Mercyhurst on Senior Day.
Bukowski's 58 points (19 G, 20 A) are the most among active players. He also earned first team D2CCA and third team NSCAA All-Region accolades in 2016 after leading the Warriors with 22 points (9 G, 4 A).
Boerema (Buffalo, N.Y./St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute) has played all but 45 minutes in goal for ESU this season. He has contributed to nine shutouts on the year, and his eight individual shutouts are tied for first in the PSAC and tied for 13th nationally in Division II. Boerema has a 0.78 goals-against average (second in the PSAC, 22nd nationally) and a .769 save percentage this fall.
A three-year starter, Boerema has 26 wins and 12 individual clean sheets so far in his collegiate career. He was named 2017 PSAC tournament MVP after not surrendering a goal in ESU's title run. Boerema made 11 saves in the PSAC tournament, including five in Sunday's final.
Levano (Allentown, Pa./Whitehall) joins Espinola, Enowbi and Boerema as the four Warriors to have started all 19 games in 2017. He has contributed three goals and two assists overall, including a two-goal effort in ESU's 3-1 win over Lock Haven. Levano ranked second on the team in points (13 – 5 G, 3 A) in his debut season last fall. He is 5 for 5 in penalty kicks in the last two years.
Panuccio (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) has earned starts in all 17 of his appearances this season, as he joined the Warriors after two years at Division I Rider. Panuccio has totaled three goals and three assists, with two of those goals among the most important all season. He scored the double-OT winner at Shippensburg, as ESU won 4-3 after trailing 3-1 late in the second half, and he provided the lone goal in the Warriors' win over Gannon in the PSAC title game. ESU is 11-1-1 in the last 13 games dating back to that Shippensburg victory.
Mercyhurst's Christopher Makengo was honored as the PSAC's Athlete of the Year. The remaining two major awards went to Seton Hill's Henrik Berg (Freshman of the Year) and West Chester's Michael Benn (Coach of the Year).
The Warriors earned the Atlantic Region's No. 3 seed in this year's NCAA DII tournament. They will travel to No. 2 West Chester for a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday.
