Keely Arndt earned All-PSAC honors as the trio paced the East Stroudsburg University women's cross country team at the PSAC Championships on Saturday afternoon at the West Branch Cross Country Course. The Warriors placed 8th overall in the 5k race with 194 team points and an average finishing time of 20:02.
Arndt became the first freshman since Tina Vosper in 1995 to earn All-Conference accolades.
Senior
Lauren Reightneour was honored as the Scholar-Athlete of the Year in cross country on the women's side. Reightneour became the second student-athlete in program history to garner the award and the first to be named champion scholar since Lisa Lower in 2011-12.
"I am very proud of how both teams competed today, said interim head coach
Justin Germani when asked about his teams' performances today. It was really impressive to have five All-Conference runners with one of them being a freshman."
Fine posted ESU's top finish of the day by coming in 19th place with a time of 19:31.0 to collect All-PSAC Second Team honors for the second straight year. Fine finished just under five seconds ahead of Arndt who clocked a time of 19:35.8 to finish in 24
th and earn All-PSAC Second Team honors for their first time in her young career.
Carratura finished just behind Arndt in 25th place after she ran a time of 19:37.2 to garner All-PSAC Second Team honors for the first time in her career at ESU.
Rounding out the scoring for ESU on the day was freshman
Madison Palmer in 48th place with a time of 20:17.6 and freshman
Emily Furlong in 82nd place after clocking a time of 21.11.4
Junior
Kaylene Raczka (21:22.9) and sophomore
Samantha Brawner (21:55.8) also competed for the Warriors.
Edinboro captured the team title with 58 points and an average finishing time of 18:46, while Lock Haven (83 points), Seton Hill (118 points), Gannon (118 points) and Slippery Rock (19:51) rounded out the top five. Stefanie Parsons of Edinboro won the individual title with a time of 17:31.8.
ESU will turn their attention to the track and field season which gets underway on Saturday, April 3 at the Millersville Metrics.
