NCAA Postgraduate ScholarshipREPORTS: 2013-14 FAR Report (PDF)Dr. Christopher Brooks, an Associate Professor of History at East Stroudsburg University, is in his third year as Faculty Athletics Representative for the Warriors during the 2014-15 academic year. He represents the university and its faculty in its relationship with the NCAA.
Dr. Brooks was a student-athlete at ESU for four seasons, competing in the shot put, weight throw and discus. After completing his eligibility, he remained at ESU as a graduate assistant, coaching the men's and women's throwers for three seasons. His student-athletes included Jenelle Strine, the current school record holder in the hammer (165-3 in 1999).
Dr. Brooks received his bachelor's degree in History and Philosophy and Master's degree in American History, both from ESU. He competed extensive academic work at Edinburgh University in Scotland, and completed his doctoral work at the University of Kassel in Germany, focusing on legal and constitutional history, in 2006.
At the club level, Dr. Brooks was a two-time All-American Drug-Free Powerlifter and was a three-season starter for ESU Rugby. After college, he continued competing in various strength sports, including the Scottish Highland Games, bus pulling and other strongman events.
