Tournament Preview
ESU junior forward
Jessica Martin, the Tournament MVP the last two years, leads the Warriors into the weekend.
Martin joined Stacy Perryman as the only two-time MVP's in the women's tournament, which enters its 25th year. There has never been a two-time MVP of the men's tournament, which ran from 1964-65 through 2010-11.
Martin averaged 18 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks in two games last year. She had 14 points, 12 rebounds, four steals and five blocks in a 70-55 win over Caldwell, and 22 points and 11 rebounds in a 78-67 loss to Concordia. As a freshman, she averaged 14 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in two games.
ESU senior guard
Andrea Veres was named to the All-Tournament team as a sophomore, with 18 points - including 11 in the last six minutes - in a 66-62 win over Georgian Court.
Concordia is in the tournament for the third straight year and fifth time overall, but returns without two-time All-Tournament team member Krystina Agard. Philadelphia University is participating for the second time overall and first time since 1989-90, and Saint Anselm is also back for a second time, also appearing in 1998-99.
This marks the third year that the Pocono Classic features a women's-only format. The tournament began under the direction of ESU men's basketball coach Ken Sisson in 1964-65.
