WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - East Stroudsburg University junior outfielder
Chris Knott has been named to the 2013 NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional All-Tournament team for his performance last weekend at Wake Forest University, it was announced Sunday night.
In three games for the Warriors, Knott (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) hit .750 (6-for-8) with a double, four RBI, five runs, four walks, one hit by pitch, a sacrifice fly and a .786 on-base percentage, reaching base 11 times in 14 plate appearances.
He led the Warriors to an 8-6 (10 inn.) win over host Winston-Salem in their opener on Thursday night, going 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs and the go-ahead sacrifice fly that scored senior OF
Eric Boyer in the 10th. He also had a key two-run single and scored the game-tying run in the eighth inning as ESU rallied from a 6-2 deficit to tie the game at 6-all.
On Friday night against Seton Hill, he was 2-for-2 with an RBI, run and three walks in a 9-3 loss to the Griffins. Through two games, Knott was 6-for-6 with three walks and a sacrifice fly in 10 plate appearances.
Knott was 0-for-2 with a walk, was hit by a pitch and scored two runs in a 7-5 loss to Millersville in the Warriors' tournament finale on Saturday morning.
Knott earned first team Daktronics and NCBWA All-Region honors, finishing the season leading the Warriors with a .374 batting average, .472 on-base percentage, .632 slugging percentage, 25 extra-base hits including six home runs, and 46 RBI. He was second on the Warriors with 37 runs and third with 17 stolen bases while starting all 52 games in center field.
He ranks second in the PSAC in slugging percentage, fourth in on-base percentage, fifth in batting average and is tied for fourth in RBI.
Knott was one of six All-PSAC East selections for the Warriors, who won their first PSAC championship since 1971 by going 4-0 in the PSAC Tournament on May 8-11 in Johnstown.
