MURFREESBORO, N.C. - Senior preseason All-America outfielder Chris Knott hit a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning of the nightcap to help East Stroudsburg University (5-0) to a doubleheader sweep at Chowan, 7-5 and 5-4, to open this weekend's four-game series on Saturday.

Kntt added a three-run triple in the first game and senior right-hander Keenan Stare had the save in both ends of the doubleheader for the Warriors, who return to the field on Sunday at 12 p.m.

ESU's bullpen allowed just one run in 6.1 innings of work after the Warriors trailed early in both games.

GAME 1 - W 7-5

Senior SS Eric Linares hit a two-out, two-run double in the sixth inning to break a 5-5 tie to help the Warriors win the opener.

Sophomore right-hander Brandon Holup threw 3.0 scoreless innings, scattering a hit in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, before Stare came on for a perfect seventh inning to seal the victory. Senior Ryan Lubreski (1-0) allowed five runs on six hits in 3.0 innings of work.

Knott was 2-for-4 as ESU managed just five hits, but drew seven walks and was twice hit by pitches.

Chowan took a 1-0 lead in the first before ESU scored four in the third. Sophomore OF John Armbrust, redshirt freshman 2B Jay Young and Linares all drew walks before Knott's two-out triple to center field cleared the bases. Knott scored on a passed ball for a 4-1 lead.

Chowan came back with four runs in the bottom of the third for a 5-4 lead. ESU tied it in the top of the fourth on back-to-back leadoff doubles by senior C Eric Forth and redshirt senior DH Nico Delerme.

In the sixth, Delerme drew a one-out walk and junior OF Nick Espino came on to pinch run and stole second base. He moved to third on a flyout, then Young was hit by a pitch and stole second before Linares brought both runners home with the go-ahead double.

GAME 2 - W 5-4

Knott's 14th career home run, tied for fifth in school history, was the difference in the top of the seventh inning.

ESU battled back from a 4-2 deficit through five innings, getting a run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Linares that plated freshman Ian Allen, who pinch ran for redshirt sophomore 1B Matt Walewski.

Redshirt sophomore Drew Hercik walked to start the seventh, and Knott followed with a homer to right-center to put the Warriors in front, 5-4.

Stare stranded a one-out single for his second save of the year and the eighth of his career.

Chowan led 2-0 going to the fourth, with single runs in the second and third frames, before the Warriors tied it with two unearned runs, both with two outs, in the top of the fourth. Delerme and Armbrust both hit two-out singles and came around to score on a pair of errors.

Delerme was 3-for-4 to lead a nine-hit attack for the Warriors.

Redshirt junior Max Mueller was the winning pitcher with a perfect sixth innings. Redshirt sophomore Matt Festa, last week's NCBWA Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Week with a 3.0-inning relief appearance, got the start and went 4.2 innings, allowing three runs on three hits, four strikeouts and one walk.
