EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University redshirt senior wide receiver Jon Schnaars has been named to the D2CCA NCAA Division II All-America first team for the 2015 season, it was announced Tuesday.

Schnaars (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) was previously named to the AFCA All-America team last Thursday. He is one of 31 All-America selections in program history, including 19 on the first team.

Schnaars leads Division II in receptions per game (10.4), yards per game (146.4) and receiving TD (22), hauling in 114 receptions for 1,610 yards in 11 games.

The D2CCA All-America team (previously Daktronics) is selected by the nation's sports information directors. He is the first ESU player named to the All-America first team since linebacker Matt Freed (2008-09).

Schnaars and redshirt senior quarterback Matt Soltes were named to the D2CCA All-Super Region 1 team two weeks ago, and Soltes was named the region's Offensive Player of the Year. Soltes is a national finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy, which will be announced on Friday.

Schnaars' season ranks in the top 15 in DII history in all three major receiving categories, ranking 10th in receptions (114), 15th in yards (1,610) and tied for seventh in receiving TD (22). He is second in receptions, third in yards and tied for second in TD in PSAC history.

He set an ESU record for single-season receptions, breaking the previous mark of 88 in 14 games set by Evan Prall in 2005. His 1,610 receiving yards are second behind Prall's 1,766 yards, and his 22 receiving TD are second behind Prall's 23.

Schnaars set ESU's career record for receptions (239), ranks third in yards (3,447) and second in TD (45) - ranking in the top 10 in PSAC history in all three categories (5th in receptions, 8th in yards and t-5th in TD).

Schnaars and Soltes helped ESU rank second in DII in passing offense (361.5 ypg) this season. Soltes led DII in passing yards per game (354.5) and passing TD (41) and ranked second in total offense (373.6) in the regular season.

Schnaars had 100 yards receiving in nine of 11 games, including three 200-yard games. He set PSAC records with 20 catches and seven TD and had 218 yards in a 69-67 (5OT) loss vs. Shippensburg, had nine catches for 200 yards and two TD in a 56-12 win vs. Edinboro and 16 catches for 222 yards and four TD in a 49-37 win vs. Gannon in the final game of the season.

He had seven catches for 125 yards and the go-ahead two-point conversion with 1:10 remaining in ESU's 35-34 win vs. Bloomsburg, its first over the Huskies since 2005.

He had five games with at least 10 catches, and eight games with at least nine receptions, including a streak of 9+ catches in six straight games.

Schnaars was previously named to the All-PSAC East second team in 2014 with 58 catches, 807 yards and 14 TD.

Academically, he is a two-time Academic All-America selection and was named to the first team this season. He was also a national semifinalist for the National Football Foundation's Campbell Trophy.

Schnaars, quarterback Jason Vander Laan (Ferris State) and kicker Brent Wahle (Ohio Dominican) were the only players named to the AFCA All-America team and Academic All-America first team this season.

Schnaars is the third ESU wide receiver named to an All-America team, joining Evan Prall (2005-06) and Mike Mancuso (1996-97).

Schnaars is one of five PSAC players named to the All-America squad, joining Slippery Rock offensive lineman Cory Tucker (1st team), Shippensburg return specialist Sheldon Mayer (2nd team), Slippery Rock defensive lineman Marcus Martin (2nd team) and Slippery Rock linebacker Teven Williams (2nd team).
