Decker Runs ESU #2 Time in 5000m at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA - Junior Allison Decker ran an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time in the 5000m on Thursday night at the Penn Relays, clocking 16:56.53, the second-fastest time in East Stroudsburg University history.

Decker recorded her second NCAA DII provisional time this spring, previously running 36:18.18 in the 10K at Bucknell on April 16 which ranks second in the PSAC and 28th in DII.

Decker's 5K time is second at ESU to Rose Mascoli, who ran 16:36.98 at Bucknell in 2011. Her previous PR was 17:48.02 at West Chester on April 10, which ranked eighth in the PSAC this season.

Decker placed 21st of 63 runners in the championship final of the 5K and was the fifth-fastest non-DI athlete.

ESU's women's 4x400m relay of freshman Decontee Krayee (63.0), freshman Leiana Dean (61.0), sophomore Jaid Harsch (60.8) and freshman Victoria Matthews (59.8) competed earlier Thursday, running 4:04.91.

The Warriors finished fourth in their heat of nine schools, and second of six DII schools. They finished 69th of 81 schools overall.

A total of 21 ESU athletes will compete during the 122nd edition of the Penn Relays at historic Franklin Field.

Friday's schedule features the men's 4x200m relay, women's 4x200m relay, men's shuttle hurdles and men's 4x400m relay.

Saturday, senior William Berry (high jump) and graduate student Travis Toth (hammer) will compete individually, along with the women's 4x800m, which will run in the Championship of America Invitational.
