MANSFIELD - East Stroudsburg University junior Allison Decker won the women's 10,000m title, leading wire-to-wire, to open the 2016 PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday night at Mansfield University.

Decker won the conference title in 37:47.43 after entering as the event's No. 1 seed (36:18.18 - NCAA DII provisional).

She outlasted second-place Anna Hosl (Edinboro) in 37:56.14 and third-place Jenny Picot (Slippery Rock) in 38:08.59, running away from Hosl with laps of 1:24.5 and 1:13.7 over the final 800m after they were neck-and-neck with two laps to go.

Decker is ESU's fourth women's 10,000m champion with each of the first three winning multiple titles - Sue Carden (1980-82), Jenn Moyer (1992-93) and most recently Vanessa Andes (2004-05).

She earned her fifth career PSAC scoring performance and was sixth in the 10K last year. She ran fourth in the 5000m during the 2016 indoor season.

Last fall, Decker was an NCAA DII qualifier in cross country and was the 2014 PSAC cross country runner-up.

ESU had four entries in the men's 10,000m led by freshman Jeremy Riggotti, who was 15th in 33:43.69.

Senior Eric Conard, the defending champion in the decathlon, stands eighth through the first day with 2,917 points. He tied his PR's in the 100m (11.79) and high jump (5-8 1/2) and ran a new PR in the 400m (52.36). Conard was also eighth last year through day 1 (2,976 points) before posting an NCAA DII provisional total of 6,209 points.

Freshmen Malik Francis and Nate Sharrah are 11th and 12th through five events.

Freshman Michayla Weitman is 12th in the heptathlon through four events.

A total of 12 finals will be contested on Friday, including the men's hammer throw, with ESU graduate student Travis Toth entering with the top mark (202-2), along with several prelims on the track.
