THE SERIES: Shippensburg holds a 31-18-2 lead entering the 52nd meeting and is one of just five PSAC programs to have a winning record against ESU, along with IUP (11-6), Slippery Rock (13-3), West Chester (58-22) and Mercyhurst (2-1). Douds is 4-13-1 vs. Ship in his career, posting wins in 1990, 2002, 2008 and 2014. The tie (14-14) was in the 1976 State Game. Ship holds a 6-2 series lead since moving to the PSAC East in 2008. Four of ESU's 11 overtime games have come against Shippensburg, including the first-ever in the 1991 NCAA Playoffs and Ship's 69-67 (5OT) triumph in 2015 - the longest game in PSAC history. Seven of the 12 meetings since 2000 have been decided by 5 points or less.
DOUDS' MILESTONES: Douds is one of 13 men to reach 40 seasons as head coach in NCAA football history, the 9th to coach 40 years at one school, and the 5th to spend all of his 40+ year career at the same institution.
