Radocha, Hatfield, Delerme, Knott Selected for ESU Baseball Bat Club Induction on September 30

EAST STROUDSBURG - The East Stroudsburg University baseball program will induct the fifth class of its "Bat Club" on Saturday, September 30, which will include a scrimmage and alumni social.

Four Warriors - catcher/third baseman Pete Radocha (1975-77), second baseman Ryan Hatfield (2000-03), catcher/designated hitter Nico Delerme (2010-14) and outfielder Chris Knott (2011-14) - join 15 previous inductees.

The event will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. at ESU's Innovation Center (562 Independence Road, East Stroudsburg, Pa.).

The ceremonies will be preceded by the Warriors' fall intrasquad scrimmage at Mitterling Field (10 a.m.-1 p.m.).

Previous inductees to the Bat Club are - pitcher/shortstop Joel Bennett, outfielder J.D. Stern, second baseman Jacob De Boer and pitcher Jeremy Gigliotti (2013), pitcher/infielder/outfielder Tim Bishop, shortstop Brett Reynolds, outfielder Josh Butler and third baseman Mark Angelo (2014), pitcher Mike Balent, outfielder Kyle Sheaffer, pitcher Christian Saveri and pitcher/first baseman Brian Ernst (2015) and pitcher Don Rentschler, second baseman Tadgh La Bar and outfielder Kevin Thompson (2016).

Information on the Bat Club honorees is below:

Pete Radocha - All-PSAC East 1st team at catcher in 1976 and third base in 1977 … held ESU career records for on-base percentage (.454) and walks (68) upon graduation … in 1976, hit .283 (28-for-99) with 34 walks, 3 doubles, 5 home runs, 17 RBI and 16 runs … in 1977, hit .319 (30-for-94) with 22 walks, 7 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs, 24 RBI and 23 runs … also starred on ESU's football team (1974-76) which included 1975 and 1976 PSAC championships … had 2,047 career rushing yards and 17 touchdowns, including 913 yards and 12 TD in 1976 … also threw 4 career TD passes as a halfback.

Ryan Hatfield - 2-time All-PSAC East 2nd team at second base in 2002 and 2003 … graduated with 4 school records - total bases, extra-base hits, triples and games played … had 190 career hits (3rd upon graduation - currently 10th) … 34 doubles (2nd - 9th) … 14 triples (1st - 2nd) … 15 HR (2nd - 9th) ... 63 extra-base hits (1st - t-4th) ... 297 total bases (1st - t-4th) ... 24 stolen bases ... 96 RBI (t-3rd - t-16th) … 124 runs (4th - 10th) … 79 walks (t-3rd - t-9th) … 182 games played (1st - t-7th) … 277 times reached base (3rd - 10th).

Nico Delerme - Consensus All-America 3rd team selection and All-Region 1st team at designated hitter in 2014 … NCAA Division II statistical champion in on-base percentage (.557) … ABCA Gold Glove Atlantic Region selection at catcher in 2011 … career .348 hitter with .450 on-base percentage and .468 slugging percentage … 148 hits, 79 walks, 23 doubles, 2 triples, 8 HR, 89 RBI and 84 runs … in 2014, hit .437 - ESU's best batting average since 1998 … .557 on-base percentage and .635 slugging percentage … drew 37 walks … had 10 doubles, 5 HR, 44 RBI and 36 runs … set ESU freshman record with .395 average in 2010 … helped Warriors to 2011 NCAA DII Tournament which finished 3rd in Atlantic Region.

Chris Knott - Atlantic Region Player of the Year by ABCA and Daktronics as a senior in 2014 … All-Ameirca 2nd team by both organizations … selected by Tampa Bay Rays in 34th round of 2014 MLB Draft … Tino Martinez Award (DII Player of the Year) semifinalist … ABCA Gold Glove Atlantic Region outfielder … 2-time consensus 1st team All-Region by ABCA, Daktronics and NCBWA (2013-14) and 2-time All-PSAC East 1st team … 2014 PSAC East Athlete of  the Year … helped lead Warriors to 2013 PSAC championship (first since 1971) and two NCAA Tournaments (2011, 2013) … had career line of .345/.443/.568 … graduated with 7 school records - doubles (46), triples (16), HR (19), extra-base hits (81), total bases (344), RBI (146) and games played (189) … ranks 3rd at ESU in career hits (209), 3rd in runs (142), 3rd in stolen bases (57), t-4th in walks (88) and 2nd in HBP (29) … as a junior on 2013 PSAC championship team, hit .374/.472/.626 with 14 doubles, 5 triples, 6 HR, 46 RBI, 37 runs and 17 stolen bases … as a senior, hit .399/.484/.667 with 15 doubles, 4 triples, 6 HR, 44 RBI, 46 runs and 14 stolen bases to earn PSAC and national honors.
