Koehler Fieldhouse is the heartbeat of ESU Athletics and is home to STUNT, men’s and women’s basketball, women’s volleyball swimming and men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams as well as location for winter commencement exercises.

Along with athletic events inside Koehler Fieldhouse's arena and pool, the facility houses offices for ESU's intercollegiate athletics staff and coaches. Additionally, faculty for ESU's athletic training and exercise science departments also call Koehler Fieldhouse home, with offices, labs and classrooms located on the first and second floors.

Located on the first floor of Koehler Fieldhouse, the Natatorium is home to the Warriors' women’s swim team and is equipped with bleacher seating for 500, locker rooms and a pool that is heated to a constant comfortable 80 degrees. The pool is available to rent throughout the year.

In addition to the arena and natatorium, two weight rooms, a wrestling room, sport medicine facilities and numerous locker rooms also are housed inside the nearly 19,000 square foot facility.

In March of 2019, ESU unveiled two state of the art team rooms for the men's and women's basketball teams. The rooms feature an always-illuminated Warrior head proudly displayed in the center of the room. There are also personalized cherry wood lockers with padded seats, and cubbies which feature individual combination locks with burned-in ESU logos and charging ports.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, ESU made the fieldhouse available as an emergency medical site while the COVID-19 pandemic overwhelmed nearby hospitals.

The makeshift hospital never ended up housing any patients, but that also wasn't the first time the fieldhouse became important in community crisis response. In 2012, Koehler Fieldhouse became a "megashelter" for those that Hurricane Sandy displaced.

"There's no other place in the area that can house, you know, hundreds of people at one time, shower, bathe people as well as feed them with our facilities throughout the campus," ESU interim President Kenneth Long said. "In the event of emergency, you can still maintain food services, sanitary conditions and, again, safe conditions for the community ... It's a tremendous asset for the county."
