EAST STROUDSBURG - Jamie Vanartsdalen scored two second-half goals, one on Tuesday and one on Wednesday, to give No. 2 Bloomsburg a 3-1 win over East Stroudsburg University in PSAC field hockey.
The game was suspended with 22:28 remaining in regulation on Tuesday afternoon due to darkness and resumed on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Whitenight Field.
Vanartsdalen scored 1:23 into the second half to give Bloomsburg a 2-1 lead on Tuesday, and then scored 2:38 into the action on Wednesday afternoon to provide an insurance goal for the Huskies.
Bloomsburg went ahead 1-0 midway through the first half on a goal by Ashley Heckard before the Warriors responded to tie the score at 1-1 before the end of the half. Freshman Monica Gombita scored her second goal of the season on an assist from freshman Brittany Kocis with 7:29 left before intermission.
Junior goalkeeper Carolyn Kisling made six saves for ESU, as Bloomsburg held a 13-4 advantage in shots and a 10-2 margin in the second half. Allison Ziants was credited with two saves for the Huskies.
ESU will return to action on Saturday with a 12:30 game against Kutztown.
