No. 3 Kutztown Pulls Out 3-2 PSAC Field Hockey Win over ESU

KUTZTOWN - Anne Waapu scored the game-tying goal with 16:42 left and netted the game-winner with less than 10 minutes remaining to give No. 3 Kutztown a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over East Stroudsburg University in PSAC field hockey on Saturday.

Senior back Kristen Lutz scored her first career goal to give ESU a 1-0 lead with 10 minutes left in the first half, and the lead stood up until Waapu assisted on a goal by Tristin Ludy 8:36 into the second half to tie the game at 1-1. Senior Sarah Cordora assisted on the goal by Lutz, her ninth assist of the season and the 27th of her career at ESU.

Freshman Monica Gombita gave the Warriors the lead back five minutes later on an assist from classmate Kayla Cilenti.

Waapu scored the final two goals of the game off penalty corners, with the assists coming from Alyssa Maltese.

Kutztown outshot ESU 21-8 in the game, with junior Carolyn Kisling making seven saves in goal for the Warriors. Sam Flowers was credited with one save for the Golden Bears, who improve to 16-2 on the season and 9-2 in the PSAC.

ESU will travel to Slippery Rock for a 12 p.m. start on Sunday before hosting C.W. Post, Millersville and Catawba over a four-day span next weekend to close the season.
