Gombita Scores Twice in 3-0 Field Hockey Win at Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK - Freshman Monica Gombita scored two goals as East Stroudsburg University shut out Slippery Rock on the road in PSAC field hockey on Sunday afternoon.

Senior Domineque Scott scored her first goal of the season 13:30 into the game to give ESU a 1-0 lead. Gombita extended the margin with 15 minutes left in the first half, and netted her second goal of the game 7:43 into the second half.

Sophomore Kierstyn DeNardo assisted on Scott's goal, and freshman Joanna Reckley and senior Sarah Cordora recorded assists on the goals by Gombita.

Sophomore Megan Cappuccino made her first career start in goal for ESU, and freshman Jennifer Mullen played the final 21:21 in the first action of her career. Lisa Belcastro had nine saves for Slippery Rock, which was outshot 19-3.

ESU will play three home games to complete its 2007 schedule, beginning with a 4 p.m. match against C.W. Post on Thursday at Whitenight Field.
