ESU Field Hockey Comes From Behind to Defeat No. 5 C.W. Post 4-3 in OT

EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University overcame a 3-0 deficit and freshman Brittany Kocis scored her second goal of the game 3:36 into overtime to give the Warriors a 4-3 victory over No. 5 C.W. Post in non-conference field hockey on Thursday afternoon at Whitenight Field.

Kocis also scored with 4:47 left in the first half for the Warriors to make the score 3-2 at halftime. C.W. Post scored three times in the first 20 minutes of the contest to jump out to the early lead, getting goals from Kaurey Foley (8:33), Amber Limanni (15:54) and Amanda Nann (18:09).

Senior Sarah Cordora scored her second goal of the year with 10:05 left until halftime to put ESU on the board on an assist from freshman Monica Gombita.

Cordora tied the score at 3-3 with 22:35 remaining in the match, with the pass coming from sophomore Kierstyn DeNardo.

ESU withstood 12 penalty corners from C.W. Post in the second half, with freshman goalkeeper Jennifer Mullen making three saves. Sophomore Megan Cappuccino started the game for ESU and played the first 35 minutes.

Kocis completed her first career multi-goal game and secured the victory for ESU with a hard shot from 10 yards out that got past C.W. Post goalkeeper Pam Guernaccini.

ESU recorded its third victory over a ranked opponent this season and improved to 8-10 on the year. The Warriors will close their season with a pair of games this weekend, hosting Millersville on Saturday and Catawba on Sunday. Both contests will begin at 1 p.m. at Whitenight Field.
