ESU Field Hockey Defeats Millersville 4-1

EAST STROUDSBURG - Freshman Monica Gombita's two goals led East Stroudsburg University to a 4-1 win over Millersville in PSAC field hockey play.

Gombita opened up the scoring eight minutes into the contest on an assist from senior Sarah Cordora. ESU would add two more first half goals by junior April Sutton and freshman Caitlin Brownley.

Junior Jackie Domzalski assisted on Sutton's goal, and Cordora recorded her 12th assist on the goal by Brownley. Cordora will enter the final game of her career with 30 assists, two shy of the school record.

Jaclyn Kulesza put Millersville on the board when she scored in the 41st minute for the Marauders.

Gombita closed out the scoring for the afternoon when she notched her team leading eighth goal of the season on an assist from Karleigh Bowen. Gombita has recorded at least one point in the Warriors past five games tallying six goals and one assist during that span.

Freshman Jennifer Mullen made her first career start in goal for ESU, and sophomore Megan Cappuccino played the final 13 minutes of the contest. Mullen recorded nine saves and picked up the win.

ESU will play its season finale tomorrow afternoon when they take on Catawba at 1 p.m. Prior to the game the Warriors will honor five seniors in their last collegiate contest.
