EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior forward Monika Fogelsanger gave East Stroudsburg University its first lead of the second half with a pair of free throws with 12 seconds left, but Ashley Gaskins followed up a pair of misses with a putback with 1.5 seconds remaining to give Philadelphia University a 74-73 win on Wednesday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.

The Warriors' only other lead of the game came on a free throw by Fogelsanger to open the scoring just over a minute into the contest before the Lady Rams opened up a 14-3 advantage over the next five minutes.

ESU pulled within 30-29 at the 6:00 minute mark in the first half, but another surge gave Philadelphia (3-1) a 43-33 lead at halftime behind 17 points from Kate Brennan.

Two free throws by Jessica Romano (15 points, 13 rebounds) to open the second half matched the biggest lead of the game at 12 points, but the Warriors chipped away and a three-pointer by sophomore guard DeAnna Rayam made the score 49-44 with 15 minutes left.

The Lady Rams maintained their lead until junior guard Jackie Yandrisevits made a pair of free throws to tie the game at 69-all with 1:59 on the clock. Gaskins reestablished the two-point lead with two free throws before ESU freshman guard Kristen Murray sank a jumper with 1:09 remaining to knot the score at 71-all.

Kate Brennan split a pair of free throws to score the last of her 23 points with 40 seconds to go set up the finish. Rayam missed a three to turn the ball over to Philadelphia, but Murray came up with a steal on the inbounds play and Fogelsanger rebounded a missed layup and was fouled.

Fogelsanger, a 78 percent career foul shooter, made both to put ESU ahead 73-72. After a timeout, Amanda Brennan drove the baseline and missed a shot and Ashley Webster missed on the follow before Gaskins gathered the rebound and made the putback with 1.5 seconds left. ESU didn't get a shot off and fell to 0-3.

Murray led ESU with 15 points and contributed six rebounds, six assists and five steals. Rayam made three three-pointers and finished with 13 points, while Fogelsanger had 10 and Yandrisevits had nine points and seven rebounds before fouling out.

Webster had 17 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks for Philadelphia, which put four players in double figures - Kate Brennan (23), Romano (15) and Amanda Brennan (10).

The Lady Rams were 27-of-35 from the foul line, while ESU was just 8-for-14. The Warriors attempted 18 more shots from the field (28-of-72) and had 20 offensive rebounds, led by four each from Yandrisevits and freshman forward Karla Cardona.

ESU will face Lock Haven and Shippensburg on the road in PSAC crossover play this weekend before returning to Koehler Fieldhouse to host the 43rd Annual ESU Basketball Tournament on Dec. 7-8.
