Yandrisevits Leads Warriors to 85-72 Win vs. Slippery Rock

EAST STROUDSBURG - Junior guard Jackie Yandrisevits scored 28 points and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds to lead East Stroudsburg University to an 85-72 win over Slippery Rock on Wednesday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Yandrisevits scored 21 of her season-high 28 points in the second half as the Warriors outscored the Rock 52-35 after intermission. She was 10-of-13 from the field and made all three three-point attempts, and also had three steals and two blocked shots.

Slippery Rock led 28-14 at the halfway point of the first half, but ESU closed the deficit to four points at the break as senior forward Monika Fogelsanger and junior guard Keri Cahill both made shots in the final two minutes.

Yandrisevits scored the first four points of the second half to tie the game at 37-all, and gave ESU the lead for good with a jumper with 15:20 remaining.

Three-pointers by sophomore guard Mel Villano and Yandrisevits staked the Warriors to a 59-51 lead with 10 minutes to play, and ESU led by at least six points the rest of the way.

Redshirt freshman forward Karla Cardona scored 15 points and sophomore guard DeAnna Rayam added 13 for the Warriors. Cahill finished with season-highs of nine points and seven rebounds.

KellyAnn Staudinger led Slippery Rock with 19 points.

ESU shot 46.7 percent from the field and 44.4 percent (8-of-18) from three-point range, and was 17-of-23 from the foul line in the second half to secure the victory.

The Warriors will have 17 days off until their next action on Saturday, Jan. 5 with a 1 p.m. tip vs. Clarion.
