Box Score

EAST STROUDSBURG - Junior forward Dena Shleifer scored two goals, one in each half, to lead East Stroudsburg University to a 2-1 win over Kutztown in PSAC East women's soccer action on Thursday at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

The Warriors improve to 2-0 in the PSAC East and 2-2 overall, with their first conference win coming by a 2-1 score over Bloomsburg last Wednesday. Kutzown drops to 2-2-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the PSAC East.

Shleifer gave ESU a 1-0 halftime lead her first goal with eight minutes left in the half. Her second goal came with 15:01 remaining in the game and gave the Warriors a 2-0 advantage.

Kutztown cut the margin to 2-1 with a goal by Jen Tice off a corner kick in the 83rd minute. ESU goalkeeper Janine Turcio denied Tice on a point blank shot that would have tied the score at 1-1 two minutes before Shleifer's second goal.

Turcio made consecutive saves with five minutes left to maintain the 2-1 lead, and was credited with 10 saves in the game. Stephanie Bonsky made eight saves for Kutztown, with both goalkeepers facing 15 shots.

ESU will look for a 3-0 start to conference play on Saturday at Shippensburg in a game scheduled for 4 p.m.
