EAST STROUDSBURG - No. 3 Ed Prendergast (285) and No. 8 Matt Stolpinski (174) both had convincing victories as Navy defeated East Stroudsburg University 39-3 in an EIWA dual match on Friday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.
Senior Sean Carr earned ESU's only points of the night with a 4-2 decision over Glenn Shober at 141 pounds.
Both Prendergast and Stolpinski were national qualifiers a year ago, with Stolpinski winning All-America honors. Prendergast pinned ESU's Chris Birchler with 14 seconds left in the second period in a competitive match to that point. Prendergast led 3-0 before getting the fall.
Stolpinski, who was fourth in the nation last year, won a 15-0 technical fall over Shane Mallory with the extra point for riding time at the end of their bout at 174.
ESU received a solid performance from redshirt sophomore Matt Swallow at 133, going into two overtimes before losing a 7-6 decision to Matt Pagan.
Navy won close decisions at 157 and 165, with Joel Ahern taking a 2-0 decision over Kyle Heselpoth and Justin Jacobs earning a 3-0 victory over Joe Schick.
In the other contested bouts of the night, Allan Stein opened the night for Navy with an 8-1 decision against Matthew Benedetti, and Spencer Manley had a 16-3 major decision against Jesse Dunn.
ESU will host Franklin & Marshall in EIWA action on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 12 p.m. at Koehler Fieldhouse.
