LEWISBURG - Rusty Smith and Andrew McCloskey turned in record-setting performances to lead the East Stroudsburg University indoor track & field team at the Bucknell Heptagonal on Saturday at Gerhard Fieldhouse.

Smith won the 55m hurdles and set the school record in 7.59 seconds. He shaved five-hundredths of a second off the previous mark and won the event by 0.14 seconds over Andrew Yehl from Bucknell.

McCloskey shattered the school record in the 200m dash with a time of 22.39, breaking the old standard of 22.60 that had stood for more than a decade. McCloskey placed third in the event, with teammate Jeff McClenton finishing sixth in 23.00.

Elsewhere on the track for the ESU men, Ed Kiser was fourth in a photo finish in the 400 with a time of 49.99, and senior Iuri Pinto was fourth in the 1000.

Kiser ran the second leg on the 4x400 relay team that finished second in 3:24.62, less than a second behind Lehigh, joining Chris Reddick, John Wekselman and Tony Prudente.

Trina Carito (triple jump - 36-9) and Janelle Smith (high jump - 5-2 1/2) were both second for the Warriors women in the field events. Steph Weber tied for fourth in the pole vault with a height of 10-3 1/2.

On the track, Katherine Doyle was sixth in both the 55 and 200-meter dashes, and Amanda Bradbury was sixth in the 5000.

Drew Miller scored in a pair of events for the ESU men, placing third in the triple jump (45-1 1/2) and fourth in the long jump (21-6 3/4), just edging McClenton who was fifth (21-6).

Fourth-place finishers for the Warriors were Paul Wagner in the weight and Ryan Kramer in the high jump. Shane Burrows was fifth in the pole vault.

Bucknell won both the men's and women's team titles in a meet that featured five Division I schools, along with ESU and Shippensburg. The Warriors men were just three points (67-64) shy of Shippensburg, which ran away with the PSAC East Challenge last weekend at Kutztown.
