Defense Propels Warriors to 78-39 PSAC East Win vs. Bloomsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG - Junior guard Jackie Yandrisevits scored 25 points, 21 in the first half, and East Stroudsburg University held Bloomsburg to nine points in the second half in a 78-39 victory on Wednesday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Yandrisevits made a career-high four three-pointers, all coming before halftime, including a shot to beat the buzzer and send the Warriors into the locker room with a 40-30 lead. She moved into 10th on ESU's all-time scoring list with 1,064 career points on one of her three-pointers in the first half.

ESU (8-8, 2-0) opened the second half with a 12-0 run to take a 22-point lead. Bloomsburg (5-12, 1-2) went on a quick 5-4 spurt, but it was all Warriors from there as they scored 24 of the final 28 points of the game.

The Huskies shot 45 percent in the first half but were 4-for-32 after halftime, including a 1-for-15 mark from long distance.

ESU was 30-of-67 from the field (44.8 percent) and 9-of-22 from the three-point line. Yandrisevits was 10-of-14 overall and 4-for-5 from long range, and also had six rebounds and four assists.

Sophomore guard Mel Villano had 10 points and five others Warriors scored at least six points each, including career-highs from freshmen Casey Stanton (8) and Rachel Grimes (6). Villano also had career-highs with six rebounds and five assists.

ESU will take a three-game winning streak and 2-0 PSAC East record into Saturday's 1 p.m. start with West Chester at Koehler Fieldhouse.
