Jeff McClenton set the school record in the 60m dash and Matt Gallup established a new ESU standard in the pole vault as the Warriors' men's track & field team finished second at the John Covert Classic, hosted Friday and Saturday at Lehigh University.
The Mountain Hawks were the only team to place ahead of ESU, which beat five Division I schools in a field of 10 teams.
McClenton clocked a time of 7.09 seconds, the fastest in school history, to finish third in the 60m dash. Teammate Andrew McCloskey also qualified for the finals with a time of 7.12 seconds in the prelims.
Gallup cleared 15-9 in the pole vault and finished third in the event behind athletes from Lehigh and Rutgers.
