EAST STROUDSBURG - Dana Weems had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead four West Chester players in double figures as the Golden Rams dealt East Stroudsburg University its first PSAC East loss, 67-54 on Saturday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse.
Senior forward Monika Fogelsanger and junior guard Jackie Yandrisevits both scored 14 points to lead ESU. Yandrisevits pulled down eight rebounds, and Fogelsanger had five boards to go over 500 for her career.
Catherine Andrews (10 points) scored West Chester's first eight points during an 18-5 run to open the game. ESU battled back to pull within three on a three-pointer by Amanda Pavalko and a layup by Jhazmin Brown with 2:16 left in the half before West Chester outscored the Warriors 8-3 to close the half with a 34-26 lead.
ESU got as close as five points (39-34) on a jumper by junior guard Keri Cahill six minutes into the second half, but the Golden Rams methodically built a lead of as many as 15 points following a bucket by Natalie Winters (12 points) with 6:25 to play.
Megan Stewart had 10 points to join Weems, Andrews and Winters in double figures for West Chester (10-7, 2-1).
ESU shot 35 percent from the field and was only 1-of-12 from the three-point line, while West Chester made 5 of its 12 attempts from long distance.
The Warriors continued their solid foul shooting, going 17-of-23, led by Fogelsanger (6-for-6) and Cahill (7-for-8).
ESU (8-9, 2-1) will hit the road for the first time since playing at California on January 12 with a trip to Mansfield next Wednesday.
