EAST STROUDSBURG - Clarion guard Ashley Grimm had a triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists to lead the Golden Eagles to an 80-67 win over East Stroudsburg University on Saturday afternoon in PSAC crossover play.
Grimm became Clarion's career assists leader with 481, passing the previous record of 470. Katrina Greer (17 points), Sara Pratt (15) and Jessica Albanese (13) joined Grimm in double figures.
ESU guard Jackie Yandrisevits scored 22 points for her second straight 20-point game, pushing her career total to 957 points 10 games into her junior season.
Junior guard Keri Cahill had 12 points, one shy of her career-high, and added four assists and three steals for the Warriors (4-6).
Clarion (8-3) led throughout the first half but had its lead cut to one (35-34) on a three-pointer by freshman guard Amanda Pavalko with nine seconds left in the half.
Greer pushed the lead back to four with a three-point play with 18:04 left before ESU pulled within one point on three occasions, the last coming on a layup by senior guard Sheila Gallagher on an assist from Cahill with 14:08 remaining.
Greer answered with a three-pointer for Clarion, one of four triples the Golden Eagles would hit over the next four minutes, to stretch the advantage to 58-46 with 10 minutes to play.
Clarion shot 47 percent from the field (5-of-10 from three-point range) and made 10-of-11 free throws in the second half to seal the victory.
ESU will finish the weekend with a 1 p.m. tip vs. IUP on Sunday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse.
