EAST STROUDSBURG - Jahzinga Tracey had 21 points, 15 rebounds and 10 steals to help IUP (13-1) deny East Stroudsburg University's upset bid of the No. 9-ranked team in the nation on Sunday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse.
ESU (4-7) led 42-40 at halftime and stayed close the entire second half, trailing by just two points (70-68) with 3:01 left before IUP pulled away for a 79-70 victory.
Tracey had the second triple-double in as many days against the Warriors, as Clarion's Ashley Grimm posted 10 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists in an 80-67 win on Saturday.
Junior guard Jackie Yandrisevits led ESU with 19 points and had a team-high five assists, as the Warriors had assists on 20 of their 25 field goals and shot 44.6 percent from the field (25-of-56) and 7-of-18 from three-point range for the game.
Yandrisevits pulled within 24 points of the 1,000-point mark, with ESU's next two games coming against Moravian at home on Wednesday at 7 p.m., and next Saturday at California.
ESU was undone by 26 turnovers and Tracey had 10 of IUP's 19 steals. The Crimson Hawks had 26 points off of turnovers while turning the ball over just 11 times.
The Warriors jumped on IUP early, opening up a 22-13 lead just over nine minutes into the game, as they hit nine of their first 17 shots from the floor.
IUP used a 25-7 run to take a 39-28 lead on a steal and a layup by Tracey with 2:09 left in the half before ESU closed the half with 14 points in the last two minutes and Yandrisevits made a layup with eight seconds left to give the Warriors their halftime lead.
Tracey had two steals, scored four points and assisted on another basket to give IUP a 46-42 lead in the first two minutes of the second half and the Crimson Hawks never trailed from there, but ESU kept chipping into the lead.
The Warriors twice recovered from six-point deficits to pull within one, and IUP led 70-63 with 4:00 left before sophomore guard Mel Villano hit a three and junior guard Keri Cahill made two free throws to bring ESU within 70-68 with 3:01 to go.
Tracey responded with a steal and assisted on a layup by Eryn Withers on the next possession to spark a 9-2 run to close the game, and came up with her 10th steal of the game with 21 seconds left to seal the victory.
Rayam had 14 points and a career-high eight rebounds, freshman guard Kristen Murray and Villano scored nine points each, and Cahill and senior guard Sheila Gallagher both scored seven points.
IUP placed four players in double figures, led by 21 from Tracey and 13 from Staci Heberling.
ESU will return to action on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. vs. Moravian to close a season-long seven-game homestand.
