SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.V. - Senior libero Kim Dormer had 24 digs in a 3-1 win over Pitt-Johnstown to surpass the 1,000-dig mark for her career to highlight the first day of action for East Stroudsburg University at the Shepherd University tournament on Friday.
Dormer had 15 digs in a four-set loss to Fairmont State in the Warriors' second match of the day. She has 1,021 digs in her career, seventh in school history, and has been a two-year starter. She also contributed two aces and four assists against UPJ.
Sophomore outside hitter Alyson Stark had 14 kills and hit .344 and senior middle blocker Caitlin Kuhn had nine kills and four blocks in the Warriors' victory. Senior setter Amilee Schillinger directed the offense with 43 assists and had five kills in six attacks.
Sophomore outside hitter Brianne Bachman contributed 17 kills on the day, including nine in the nightcap against Fairmont State. Junior middle blocker Sophie Godfrey had eight kills and a .467 hitting percentage, Stark also added eight kills and Schillinger handed out 35 assists.
ESU takes on Davis & Elkins and tournament host Shepherd on Saturday.
