ESU Field Hockey Shuts out Catawba, 5-0

EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior Nikki Trunzo had a goal and an assist and five different players scored goals as East Stroudsburg University shut out Catawba 5-0 in non-conference field hockey on Tuesday afternoon at Whitenight Field.

Sophomore Caitlin Brownley scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season 5:05 into the contest, and Trunzo assisted on a goal by sophomore Brittany Kocis at the 19:00 mark to give ESU (10-7) a 2-0 halftime lead.

Trunzo, a second team All-American last season, scored her first goal of the season and the second of her career 4:12 into the second half. Junior Kierstyn DeNardo found the cage on an assist from junior Kahla Doran, and freshman Kate Cottell had her first career goal to complete the second-half scoring.

Four goalkeepers combined to make five saves for the Warriors' fifth shutout of the season. Senior Carolyn Kisling played the first half and was credited with the win.

ESU hosts Slippery Rock in a non-conference match-up on Sunday at noon at Whitenight Field.
