Warriors Women's Soccer Upends Kutztown 2-0

EAST STROUDSBURG - Sophomore Lindsay Foder broke a scoreless tie in the 78th minute as the East Stroudsburg University women's soccer team won its fifth straight game and ended Kutztown's 11-game unbeaten streak with a 2-0 win over the Golden Bears on Friday night at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

Foder scored on an assist from fellow Pleasant Valley graduate Lynda Hicks, the Warriors' leading scorer, with 12:42 remaining in the contest. Junior back Jessica Oliva added another goal three minutes later with a shot from 25 yards out to extend the margin to 2-0.

Foder has scored a goal in each of ESU's last five games and recorded a point in seven games in a row. She has six goals and five assists, while Hicks leads the Warriors with 11 goals and had her first assist of the season.

Senior Janine Turcio made three saves in goal for ESU's fifth shutout of the season. The Warriors outshot Kutztown 19-6 and Steph Addleman had five saves for the visitors.

ESU won its fourth consecutive PSAC East game to climb with a point of Kutztown (10-4-2, 4-3-2) for third place in the conference standings.

The Golden Bears were 10-0-1 in their last 11 games after an 0-3-1 start, while ESU had a similar 0-3-2 stretch early in the season but has won six of its last seven contests.

The Warriors host Bloomsburg on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. on Senior Night at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
