ESU Field Hockey Blanks Slippery Rock 7-0

EAST STROUDSBURG - Seven different players scored goals, including five in the second half, as East Stroudsburg University ran away with a 7-0 victory over Slippery Rock in non-conference field hockey on Sunday afternoon at Whitenight Field.

Sophomore Caitlin Brownley had a hand in three of the Warriors' first four goals, with a goal and two assists, and junior Kahla Doran and sophomore Monica Gombita also had a goal and an assist in the contest.

ESU's first goal didn't come until Brownley assisted on Doran's goal on a penalty corner with 7:03 left in the first half, which opened the floodgates for four more goals in the next 15 minutes.

Junior Kierstyn DeNardo found the cage with just under four minutes left in the first half before Gombita and Brownley scored two goals within 26 seconds early in the second half.

Sophomore Amanda McGuire made the score 5-0 six minutes into the second half, and senior April Sutton and sophomore Katie Anderson also scored in the final period.

Senior Carolyn Kisling started and played the first 43 minutes in goal, with three other goalkeepers also seeing action to combine on the shutout. Lisa Belcastro made 10 saves in goal for the Rock (2-15).

ESU (11-7) hosts C.W. Post on Senior Day on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
